Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
@cuke not the case at all.
Didn't happen prior to the V3 box and many users in this thread report the same issues.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
@Gridders I agree, never had i a single problem with sky after being with them for over 30 years until I agreed the so called sky q upgrade.
left the complete package in jan, not even 60% discount they offered would have changed my mind the sound drop outs were the only factor in me leaving.
moved to virgins complete package with the same home setup, not a single problem.
i still monitor this thread because I will be cancelling my mums subscription in April if it’s not resolved by then, although from what others on here are saying we can anyway as sky are delivering an acceptable level of service.

@Stuvennn wrote:@CyberFriday ive given this a lot of thought myself, and have been close to cancelling a few times.
that said, having looked at a number of freeview / pvr boxes I'm yet to find something that has a nice / slick / fast user interface 😕
@Stuvennn The issue of alternative pvr is i agree a challenge - if recorded content is a must. And i find that there is also a greater level of user knowledge and research needed. Other suppliers are available.

@Spectre01 posted "I already watched Netflix, Prime and Disney+ and one thing this debacle has shown me is how little I really watch Sky now"
I suspect that is true for many but I would also suggest that many people would be shocked if they actually added up how much of what they watch "on sky" is actually free to air stuff you could get on freeview or freesat.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
I had enough of it now like many of you guys and girls. I've proceeded down the consumer rights act route now, following another reply from Sky offering me nothing than a 3rd sky engineers visit. Not what you expect when you've just paid £165 for your first bill!
If your complaint relates to Sky Broadband, Sky Talk, Sky TV, Sky Mobile or our complaints handling process, and we haven’t resolved your complaint to your satisfaction within eight weeks of you first making your complaint to Sky, or if you’ve received a notification from us saying that your complaint has reached "deadlock" with nothing more we can do, you have the right to take your complaint to the Communications and Internet Services Adjudication Scheme (CISAS), an independent alternative dispute resolution scheme who will review your complaint. If it decides that your complaint is justified, Sky will act on any decision made and put things right for you.
If your complaint remains unresolved after eight weeks, we’ll send you a written reminder of your right to go to CISAS. We’ll also send you a deadlock notification on your request, unless there are further steps we can take to resolve your complaint in a timely manner. We won’t send you a reminder or issue you with a deadlock notification if your complaint is vexatious or outside the jurisdiction of the scheme.
CISAS can be contacted:

Looks like more and more people are jumping ship.Sky are at some point going to find not sorting this costs them big time .Ok it's a hard one to sort but we are talking multi million pound organisation come on !
start turning off one function at a time until you know what causes it If your left with everything off it's the hard ware !

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
@Ratinthekitchen You are correct, I realised that at the moment I only watch 2, count them, 2, actual Sky programs per week and 1 on Fox. Virtually everything else I watched via Sky was free to air stuff. Obviously that can vary as new programs come and go but was the money I was paying really worth it? I'm not even sure the NowTV cost is value for money at the moment but it's the only way I can get the couple of series I want.
I cancelled my Sky contract but I was wondering, and I am in no way condoning this, that if everyone on the forum cancelled their contract would it really make a blip in Sky's profit? Taking aside their income from broadband and mobile how many thousands have not upgraded to HDR or simply are not complaining too much about the dropouts? I really don't know what the solution is but to wait for Sky to fix it in their own good time.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
hi same here had many poinltess calls from sky etc who have no idea what to do or say just a script, seems in todays world common sense has been sold off....if it where there to start with !
today i had two calls saying i complained because my service was not workign at all !!
just put the phone down after you need a "engineer" visit would you like a new box (had two alrerady they had no knowledge of this ) reset its your equipment blar blar
cancelling your contract will not no effect on sky is like FB/Instgram etc its all about the adverts !! with programmes thrown in between for sky
sure they will fix it but i like others put it down to the box as it only started after getting the HDR version, dont think its software
onward and upward

@Spectre01 you’re absolutely right, sky won’t be bothered about those who cancel which is why in over 2 yrs they have failed to fix the sound issue, this coming from one of the worlds leading media corporations who have the means and facilities to fix it if they wanted to.
just google the review for sky on trustpilot, that tells you all you need to know.

@Stoatgobler It indeed does look bad. But it appears that one of the big alternatives (for some) are worse. At least on the DIY route on pay as you go with different media services gives you the flexibility to chop and change when things go sour.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
@CyberFriday agreed, the one certainty is that the majority of us are been taken for mugs by the home entertainment suppliers, as evidenced by the 50 % discounts they offer if you say you are leaving and they know virgin is available in your area, a big discount they still make a large profit on.
customer care and retention isn’t on their priority list, if they know there’s a big problem with the sky q boxes that would cost a fortune to replace.
no doubt their bean counters have made that clear, so they let us go rather than invest money in fixing it.
the only thing that affects big corporations like sky is negative publicity.
which is why until programmes like watchdog or rip off Britain get involved they will do nothing apart from raising our subscriptions and patronising us over the phone or like kei the sky employee does on here.

Adverse publicity is the key. It's the difference between them putting 6 techs on the case rather than 100.
Sadly.

@Perfectionist+dur Totally agree, it’s the only way forward after over 2 + years.
mention that though and kei the sky employee and other blinkered people with sky sympathies On here become indignant.
