Anyone know what the rating AA and NU16 mean on the fox tv shows?
ive noticed the AA rating on the mentalist and NCIS synopsis when you press the i button. And NU 16 on family guy. Anyone have any idea on what they mean please. Only just noticed it and it seams to only be on fox tv channel at the moment. Thanks.

That's exactly what I've noticed on the 9th February, when I was scrolling through that evening's TV, anyone working at Disney know why? (even if they're preparation for STAR's launch on Disney+)

It is suitable only for 16 years old

Are these ratings replacing PG,12,15 etc or is it just Fox reinventing the wheel?

Fox/Disney have explained to us that they changed their regulator and as a condition of their new broadcast license, they're required to add these ratings.
Thanks,

Actually it appears to me that these stand for user ratings not age ratings.

Scratch what I said previously, though age ratings don't seem to make sense, they have Air Crash Investigation rating nu aa, I wouldn't let my 11 year old watch it

They are age ratings required by whichever European regulator Fox and Nat Geo are now licenced under. To continue broadcasting to Ireland following Brexit, they need to be licenced not only by Ofcom for the UK, but also a regulator in any EU country for Ireland.
AA is All Audiences.
NU12/14/16 Not suitable for Under 12/14/16.

In all honestly, you should be monitoring what your child(ren) watch(es) and not have the TV parent your child(ren). AA should be taked an UK film rating PG. All non-children channels are PG from 5:30am to 6:00pm.
Then it's
rated 12 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm,
rated 15 from 9:00pm to 11:00pm and
rated 18 from 11:00pm to 5:30am.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAir Crash Investigation episodes vary from AA, NU7 and NU12. My 10 year old loves to watch them with me, although he chooses not to watch the NU12 episodes.
