Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou'll find most movies are available to rent/buy for those that either don't subscribe to Sky Cinema or people who want to keep the movies (Digitally and/or on disc) so they can watch them whenever they please
When a movies liecense to broadcast from the owners expires it will still be in the store
So there is nothing to compute

You obviously don't understand how content licensing works, Sky are only allowed to broadcast the movies "free" to cinema subscribers for a specific length of time, then they must remove them, if sky purchase another license the movie will become available to subscribers again for another limited period, between these periods time, if you cannot wait, they are available to rent/buy
If movies were available ALL the time your subscription cost per month would be vastly dearer than it is currently
This is not restricted to Sky it is industry wide

Find out moreIf you had recorded it from air (broadcast over the satellite) then that recording would typically remain available on your hard drive even after the contract Sky had to distribute the item in Cinema ended. Downloads, however, are subject to the rights restrictions indicated above.
