So I have the new Giganet broadband from sky and the fastest speed I am getting only 100mb on all WiFi devices and the same on a wired connection as well into the router. I think there could be a problem with the hardware as the new FTTP modem is giving 900MBS to the router any thoughts

I had similar issues with my speeds when I first got Superfast Plus. Are you connecting to the router wirelessly using the 2.4ghz band or the 5ghz band? And is your wired connection ethernet adaptor set to 1000mbps?

To check and change ethernet adapter

to check what speed your card is currently set to :-

Go to the icon of the taskbar
Locate the icon Internet
Press on network and internet settings
Click on Ethernet
Click change adapter options
Double click on Ethernet. There, you get the speed, it can be 100 mbps or 1Gbps. If it is the second, we do not have to do anything, but if it is the first we have to configure the card

Then If you have a windows pc you can change the card settings as below



In the window where the speed was indicated, you have to click on properties
Check that the option Microsoft network clients is marked, if not, do it
Click on set up
We go to Advanced Options
Search Speed ​​& Duplex
Change the value to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex
Accept

Also check to make sure your ethernet cable is ethernet and in your router->ethernet settings are gigabit

I have turned the 2.4ghz wifi off to do testing so I am only connected to the 5ghz. In regards tobthe ethernet adapter I'm not sure what yoy mean IE in the router ?

Type 192.168.0 1 into the address bar of an internet browser 

On the horizontal menu at the top click on ethernet and enter

Username admin

Password   wifi password

And check it shows gigabit

Also check the ethernet cable is cat 5e or above. The category should be injetted on the cable sleeve near the plugs

Yes ethernet cable is cat6 and the router does state giganet

What device are you using to connect wirelessly to the router? If its an Android, you can check the wireless connection speed by swiping down and long-pressing on the WiFi icon and tapping the cog icon next to your router, it will show you the current maximum Network Speed to that device. It should increase and decrease as you move closer to the router.

What speed test are you using? I found with FTTP that it takes a while to ramp up, I had to go into the settings in Fast.com and set it to run for longer otherwise it finished before it got to full speed.

What router are you using to connect to the ONT modem? How do you know you're getting 900Mbps at the router, is it via the MySky broadband test?

So my android states it should get 780mbps on WiFi. I am using the Sky router that yoy get standard with woth broadband but when a speed test  Is done its inly 220Mbps full. 

I am wondering if i need skmethi g like the Asus AX5400 Tuf and also tk complain tk sky.

The link speed your phone shows has no relation to the actual performance you'll get over a speedtest. You cannot make a complaint to Sky until you've tested the speed via an ethernet cable

Also with WiFi 5 being half-duplex the maximum theoretical throughput with a 780 Mbps link speed is around 390 Mbps.
