I have Sky Q and BBC iPlayer is unwatchable bye to buffering issues. I have BT full fibre and have 50 meg download speed at the Sky Q box.
I have re-set my router and attempted to refresh the Apps on the Sky Q box but this has made no difference.
How can I resolve this issue

Well, if you have a 4k TV with a compatible iPlayer app, you may be able to watch some programs in UHD/HDR that way. You cannot do this from the iPlayer app on your Q box. Even if you don't have a 4k TV, as long as your TV has the iPlayer app avaiulable, you can watch using the TV app.

Thanks I will try that but it does not answer why the App does not work well on the Sky Q box

Apps on Q boxes are bad at memory management and cacheing when streaming. The box was designed to download and record to a hard drive, not to be an amazing streamer. The apps function, but can often push the boxes to their limits, hence the buffering and crashing seen on iPlayer, Netflix & Disney+.
I too never use them on Q, they're just too unreliable.

Thanks - I will use the laptop and connect via an HDMI cable to the TV to watch iPlayer in future

There is one problem with the Firestick 4k's iPlayer app. It does not allow you to play UHD/HDR programs and there are now a number of the them.

The 4K Firestick streams iPlayer at a maximum of 1080P. The more recent Firestick 4K Max however, does stream the available iPlayer content in UHD. It's often available on offer for around the same price as the standard 4K stick.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIf you want HDR with BBC iPlayer then you'll need to get the Max model. BBC stopped support and removed HDR from the Firesticks due to a few users having issues. It was never restored.
But the Max version has worked from day 1.
