Re: Apple TV Due Today 14/12/21

Well they have referenced Sky as the source! So one would believe it to be written in stone.

I believe in reality they have had a press statement sent, and whether the updates arrive are another thing really, If sky have a scheduled update for today/tomorrow it is plausible that if they pull it at the last minute its going to be after Christmas then!

Re: Apple TV Due Today 14/12/21

So it seems Voice search now works and playlist is working with Apple TV+ content  also.

Example;

'Hello Sky, The Morning Show'

@Deedee36  I would say the article is right. And the timings are likely to be bang on. 🙂

I have been waiting for the Apple TV app on Sky Q for a very long time, however I am dissapointed that you can't watch items from your apple library. I have alot of purchases on apple , so I do hope that sometime in the near future they will inlude the ability to watch Library content. Dissapointed

Re: Apple TV Due Today 14/12/21

@Jayboy1990 @Deedee36 I'm not convinced that these are apps in the true sense of the word, rather what's known as a progressive web apps (PWAs).

In simple terms, they're really websites designed to look like apps, so would use minimal space really on the Sky kit, and to all intent and purposes look like real apps, so deploying them is a relative breeze as there's nothing really to deploy as much of a PWA runs server side rather than locally.

In Glass in particular it would make perfect sense for the apps to be PWAs even if some aren't currently in order to get Glass to market.

If they are PWAs they should be able to roll these out far quicker that traditional apps so there could still be hope yet, although they'd have to be quick, change freeze is tomorrow, IIRC.

Re: Apple TV Due Today 14/12/21

The sluggish of the Apple TV app is unforgivable, how that got past sky and apples testing is just another example of modern app development!

in recent years apples software standard of quality has dwindled.

Re: Apple TV Due Today 14/12/21

Just seen the update on my new Sky Glass, for some reason when I play something it just shows a black screen... I also have an Apple TV 4K which worked yesterday but doesn't today with Sky Glass.  Also shows a black screen.  Must be related to the update as I've been using the Apple TV box since getting the Sky glass no issues...

I had to go to sleep because I couldn't be bothered to try anything tonight. Lol!
