Re: swopping from virgin to sky
@martinclayton No. You'll need to pay it, then see if you can claim from Sky.

Sky will not pay it but they will apply a credit to your account once you provide them will the documents they require:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/switching-credit-offer
Switching to Sky Broadband? - We’ll credit you up to £200*
Switching to Sky TV? - We’ll credit you up to £100*
Switching to Sky TV & Broadband? - We’ll credit you up to £300*
You must provide a copy of the bill from Virgin where you have been charged an early termination fee and a copy of a statement showing that you have paid it and send these to Sky via this email address - switching credit @Sky.uk (all one word without the gap)
If someone has helped you then please click on the LIKES button in their post.

Virgin cannot discuss your account status or disclose any outstanding amount on their billing with another ISP: that would be a gross breach of privacy and GDPR.
This is why an ex-customer has to pay any final bill themselves and then make a claim to their new provider.
