confusing call about breakdown cover

Hi Apologies if this is  all mixed up but head still spinning. Got a call from Sky Asian voice which I can  never understand properly about breakdown protection and how it was   no longer going  included in    the subscription.I said to my knowledge I did not  have that . Was told I did as it was Mandatory or something and that so many people  were having difficulty  paying it.  It was being stopped and  you had to make a payment   or split in  two. Then something about if you stop it  an £80 charge. I had  asked to speak to some else  and did get a  man on for a few mins none the wiser then  it was the girl again  still was not  making sense then the  call stopped.  we were on for about 20 mins or so. I would really appreciate if anyone  could   say what thes about or even a UK phone number  I could call. Thanks

Sounds like a scam to me. Sky Protect is an insurance cover for some Sky equipment which is run by Domestic and General insurance and there is no £80 charge for cancelling it. The cover is only about £10 a month to start with.

I agree with @Daniel0210 is that this doesn't appear to be a call from Sky especially if they come out with statements like this as it is not mandatory at all.

Had the same call today from chap saying he was from "sky equipment". Told me my sky equipment Insurance was expiring and I could renew either for £45 per quarter or £120 for the year . Which did I want?  I told him none and he said if I cancel will cost me £75.  I told him I am not cancelling as you told me it was expiring.  So let it expire. He knew my name and offered to tell me part of my sky account number as proof.  I  told him I was not going to buy anything over the phone and would check with sky first. He hung up.

Just had the same call from so called Sky breakdown cover asking what option I wanted, also advised he could tell me my last 4digits of my number. I asked him to tell me the numbers and he said I'd have to agree to an option  1st and make a payment. I asked if this was a scam and he said goodbye however I did hear him say (Removed), nothing with that one'!!! Oops so it is a scam then 🤣

Definitely a scam imo as we receive these calls & they're certainly not from Sky even though they mention it.. If you still have the number (or you receive another call) then enter it here https://who-called.co.uk to see if it's been reported as a scam or genuine call.

Defo a scam, the guy was so rude. I called the number back off my mobile and when they answered just said "hello" I asked who was I speaking to and they got all flustered and hung up - scam number 0121 274 ****

I got the same call today...but told her I just  wanted to continue with my existing plan. She asked if I did not want to save money..so I said, not bothered, and she very politely said goodbye.. definately a scam.
