Why has my bill gone up not even half way through my contract with no warning

I've just logged on to my account to find my monthly bill for my broadband has increased but I've had no warning, no reason for it and I'm not even mid way through my contract. Seems like everyone is out for profit now

There is an annual price rise on 1st April of which you should have been sent either a letter or email about it. It is the price before any discount that is increasing so whatever discount you have remains the same.

@caesarome I have not yet received my notification but I see the bill in July is estimated at an increase of £19.

Passing on the tips I have learned in over 24 years as a more than satisfied Sky customer.

I haven't received mine either.  The July increase will be an end of minimum term rather than price rise.

@PandJ2020Thanks but that is not the case as my minimum term discounts end in September.

Strange - you generally see the increase a month earlier than expected (as charging is monthly in advance)... Might be worth querying unless it's a pro-rata part-month.

EDIT: Just checked mine.  Same - no increases until July.  Showing list prices changing then and not April...

e.g. Signature (list) changing from £34 to £36.50

Strange indeed...

Same thing for me.
Nothing in April then a very significant inflation busting increase in July. It equates to 16%!
If it's correct and not just an admin error I'll have to seriously consider cancelling. It's a crazy amount.

When do your discounts end?

February 2025. There are no changes to those. The increase is all a result of the base pre discount prices changing. It's a Sky Q package fwiw.

Odd. Perhaps for some inexplicable reason you've got the 60 days 'price protection' for the increases most people are paying from April.

Even it was, the annual price rise is supposed to be in the region of 6.7% and I would probably have shrugged in disappointment, but paid it.

16% is a deal breaker though.
Thankfully my discounts are result of a second year of a no new contract offer from Sky, so cancelling won't cost me a penny.
To put it into context I'm paying £84 now before increasing to £97.50 in July!

I don't want to cancel, but this is too much to just put up with especially as there has been zero communication from Sky explaining it. I really hope it's just an admin error.

The average price increase is 6.9%, however some customers would see considerably higher percentages. Your percentage increase will vary based on which packages you have and also how good your current discounts are. The higher the discount you have for a pack, the greater you will see the percentage increase for that pack, due to the increase being applied on your list price and not your discounted price.

OK. I'm with you.

Using list price my increase is 8.4% which translates to 16% on my monthly bill.

I still don't understand why some of us are getting hit with this in July though. I just checked. It didn't happen in 2023 or 2022, prices remained level for the whole financial year.

That does seem something of an unexplained anomaly.
