Just cancelled today due to being unable to choose a better deal on their website
If there was the option to get a better cheaper deal i would likely have chosen it but due to now being extremely annoyed at having to go through a hours worth of chats for something that i should be able to do in 5 mins only an extremely cheap deal would have kept me. They couldnt offer it so iv left.
Sky need to realise they have ripped people off for years, people do not like them, in fact most people hate them so its going to be very difficult to keep customers now that streaming services exist.
Skys market share will dwindle and theyeventually lose their football package

If someone with extremely deep pockets chooses to offer more than Sky after 2028, the PL would presumably be very happy to take their money: that's kind of the point of having an auction, and all those gold and Swarovski crystal bathtubs do need good homes.

Whether it's possible to do so while offering lower subscription rates is rather different.

The problem is they are churning customers at a huge rate. This will result in them not being able to offer the money the Premier League feels they are worth.
To be honest how many people take Sky for Sky Atlantic or Sky Max ? If they lose the Premier League they are in big trouble.
Surely it makes sense to offer your existing customers a competitive package to stay

Only problem with that is that the new PL TV deal starts next season so they have the football for the foreseeable future.
Also there isn't that many alternatives providers that currently have the means to offer more for the PL rights.

Only a global streamer has those kind of financial resources, and ironically on their scale the size of the UK audience for domestic league football is hardly worth bothering with...

Its only a matter of time till EPL goes behind its own app and subscription service.
As someone who runs product on a subscription software service i know first hand how important it is to make your customers want to use you as once someone leaves, its very difficult to get them back.
Very few want to continue to use Sky because of how badly you are treated. It feels like it borders on illegal how easily they allow it to add packages but how hard it is to cancel them, its clear they are using loop holes and bad tactics.
Thankfully now Sky are beginning to pay for it, there are alternatives, the need for sky is dwindling rapid and because of how bad they treat people when customising their own packages easily they will lose people permanently because who wants to try to add them back on again only to be treated so badly once again.
Skys demise will be very enjoyable for the masses
