What happens to tv when I cancel all sky package

Hi,

   Any advice for an idiot?

my elderly parents have full Sky service tv, broadband, phone etc with all daft packages such as sport, bt, cinema, super fast fibre etc-they got talked into all this stuff last year!!

Now my dad has developed dementia and they do not watch tv now!

So wondering if we cancel ( yes I know there is charges etc) can they still get normal tv and can they still use the phone line if they sign up to another phone provider? They won't need broadband now either!

Sorry for sounding so stupid but this is out of our elderly heads. Thanks

They would be able to cancel if they are not in a contract or if Sky agree to release them early for the one they are in and if they do there will be early termination charges which basically is to pay the remainder of the contract off.

Most companies these days bundle phone and broadband packages together in the way that Sky do.

Depends. If they have Sky Q and they're not in contract they can cancel, but they'll have to return their Sky Q box. Or they can downgrade to the Essentials package, which will allow them to keep to box for a subscription charge of £15pm (I think) and they'll be able to receive and record the free to air channels, including BBC ITV, C4 and C5 among others.

If they have Sky+HD and aren't in contract they can cancel, and keep the box which will allow them to receive (but not record) the same free to air channels.

They'll be hard pressed to find a provider that will give them just a phone service. It's normally bundled with broadband.

Hi @Scunneredwifey   The future of house telephones will be delivered over the Internet, that is unless Openreach can find a solution to convert digital to analogue in the Exchanges, that is for the dwindling number of home phone only users.
