@sravnkilde

What you've seen are better discounts offered to new customers as an incentive for them to join.

If you are currently with Sky, which you haven't actually said, if you choose to jump ship and go with another provider then in 18/24 months you'll be in the same position with that provider and if you want you'll be able to return to Sky as a new customer.

Sky Talk is bundled together with Sky Broadband. You can't cancel the Talk side of things without cancelling Broadband as well. Make sure you're on the Sky Pay As You Talk tariff (call Sky if you're not). That way if you make no calls there are no Sky Talk charges.

@sravnkilde Be aware though, if you're still within your contract for TV and Broadband you will have penalty fees to pay.

Also, Virgin will only notify Sky of the Broadband change if you sign up to them. You need to cancel the TV yourself.

The notice periods are 31 days for TV and 14 days for broadband.

Virgin Media owns its private coaxial and fibre network and so can choose to undercut Openreach ISPs to attract new customers.  Their pricing after the minimum contract period tends to be rather more than the initial rate.
