Hi, I just set up up Sky in a new house and i got my Sky Q 1TB box UHD/HDR but i want to upgrade it to Sky Q 2TB UHD/HDR. I rang Sky and this is no problem I just need to pay €60.50 once off and get it sent out. For some reason the agent I spoke to and his manager both said somebody comes to collect my current Sky Q 1TB and I keep my viewing card and then the new Sky Q 2TB will be sent out so no tv service few days ?

Hi, Mark yes that's what I expected to because a few years ago when Q first launched I upgraded to the Q 2TB and it got delivered and I handed my Q1TB. He's a nice man working in customer care/cancellations. I rang because there's been a problem getting broadband at my new address for over 2 weeks and and as a good will gesture his manager had waived the once off €60 to send out the box. He didn't want to risk my without tv too and his manager wasn't sure either. It wouldn't make sense really getting a 2TB if without tv for a few days. He's ringing me tommorow with a BB update will I just tell him send it out and see what happens ? Worst case if someone comes to collect and doesn't have the new box I can just tell the delivery driver from the courier service used I need to contact Sky and I'll keep my current box

I have not got back on yet because my 1TB UHD/HDR is fine for the moment because my broadband is not in so I don't have my mini boxes set up and me tv for my new house hasn't arrived so I don't currently have UHD tv but I was told to ring back next week. Most agents say it will be posted out and if anything I send the current 1TB box back. I don't know what you are upgrading from but in my experience the 1TB box is more than enough unless you have 3+ multirooms or you would like extra storage space. From what I know the only difference is more storage on the 2TB UHD Q box and if you have more than 2 mini boxes otherwise I think the 1TB is what most people use and don't need the 2TB it's just a matter off choice and household circumstances in my opinion. I'm just a customer but I did swap from 1tb to 2tb when it first came out at a different address and the bigger box just got delivered, it was only when I was moving house Sky asked for the previous box to be sent back. Don't throw it out because I think they can add on charges if not returned but not sure

All Q hardware is loaned - do not dispose of it... (You will be charged as noted)

I have a Sky HD+ box that I upgraded to 2tb myself many years ago (I could transfer recordings from the old box back then too 😉 )
I keep seeing conflicting info about HDR support on the 2tb Sky Q box and I'm sure the question will be dodged when I get through to the upgrade team 🙂
Hope it all goes ok for you,
thanks for replying.
Best Regards.

Well if you pay for UHD package it's worth it , HDR isn't a huge deal in my opinion but I havnt tryed it with my tv yet maybe it is a big difference

The older 1 TB non UHD boxes you could only watch 1 mini box with

I understand that , I simply want the the 2TB for storage that's all because I had the 2tb before after running out off space with 3 kids. The storage is my only reason for getting it
