I am going to be switching to Sky's Social Tarrif as we are unfortunately now claiming UC. I have been told they can cut my package down from £115. a month to £35 a month for the Essentials TV, Sky BroadBand Basics and Pay As You Talk Landline.
I will obviously lose F1 Channel. Which my husband watches. He thinks he can get this with Now TV similar to Sky price and cancel with 30 days notice, is that correct?
I am going to continue to subscribe directly to Netflix, Discovery+ and already have Prime and YouTube on my TV.
Will we lose HD? Will I lose multiroom?
Multiroom isn't so imprtant as I can replace with a Firestick. It is HD I am really asking about.
We have been with Sky for almost 24 years and I am now having to seriously consider switching to Freeview. I don't really want to pay £15 a month for the priveledge of having a Sky Q box that records, rewinds and pauses TV.
Our JVC TV already has Freeview on it so what is the best box to purchase outright to record, rewind and pause TV? Or is there any alternative such as an external hard drive or memory stick I can buy?
Any helpful advice or suggestions please. It is a tricky time.
Many thanks. H

This link explains the process if you’re eligible for Sky Broadband Basics.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-social-tariff
The Sky account holder needs to be claiming Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, Income based Jobseekers Allowance or Income based Employment Support Allowance. These are the only qualifying benefits and in order for Sky to carry out checks with DWP they will need your NI number. The social tariff is for Sky Broadband Superfast 35 with an average download speed of 36Mb/s and the Sky Talk Pay As You Go tariff (ie: all calls are chargeable). It does not offer a discounted Sky Talk plan.
Broadband Basics is only available to customers who already have Sky Broadband and to add the Sky Mobile offer, you’ll need to be taking Sky Broadband Basics, and:
a) Already have Sky Mobile and a 3GB data plan.
b) Or you can add a new 3GB data plan with Sky Mobile.
If you are eligible you’ll need to call Sky to join. There is no equivalent offer for TV. The social tariff now lasts for 24 months and then reverts to the full cost but if you’re still eligible you will then need to re-apply.
