Trying to cancel or renew? A most unpleasant experience.

I've just spent nearly an hour on the phone trying to cancel TV services, and renew my broadband contract. I got transferred from one department to the next. It's a joke to be honest. Are they intentionally making it difficult to cancel your TV services?

@tw72   You can use the following link https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv#contact-leave

On the link provided (In the UK) it should include a Message Us option between 0900-1930.

You can also call on 150 from a Sky Mobile or Sky Talk line

If you haven't got a current Sky Mobile or Sky Talk this link should help:
(UK) https://www.sky.com/help/home Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0333 number
(ROI) on the same link change the flag in the very bottom corner to the ROI flag to obtain an 0818 number.

Stay on the line and don’t hang up if prompted to. Apparently the quieter times to ring are just after 7am or about 9pm.

If you don't see the Contact options on the link above make sure java script is enabled on your browser.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

GD1, I know how to contact Sky. I was just on the pnone with them.

I  asked Sky to cancel my TV services but they kept transferring me to another department. It's ridiculous..

I will renew my Ultrafast broadband contract because it has been pretty reliable,.

Re: Trying to cancel or renew? A most unpleasant experience.

Sky have all the information required in my email to cancel TV services and they still want to call me. Again! I proved that I'm the account holder.

I am not wasting my time on the phone anymore..

My cancellation email will be resent as many times as it takes for them to get the message.

Re: Trying to cancel or renew? A most unpleasant experience.

Unbelievable.

The person I spoke with tried to transfer my call to the Sky Values Team. Just got an email confirming this.

So that's why I got cut off after being sent all over the place.

Trying to cancel Sky TV is borderline harrassment on their part.

Sky will need to talk to you to confirm you are the account holder so once they have done this then no matter who they transfer you to if you tel them that you want to cancel then they should process it for you,

Re: Trying to cancel or renew? A most unpleasant experience.

caesarome,

I already spoke with Sky on the phone and confirmed that I am the account holder..

I was cut off when they attempted to transfer me to the Values Team.

I have enough to deal with at the moment, without also dealing with Sky employees acting like glorified telemarketers over the phone.

Unfortunately that's likely to mean your cancellation hasn't been completed.

You can do it online via the messaging service, here, if you wish: https://www.sky.com/help/home/your-account/my-account-and-subscription/cancelling/cancel-my-subscrip...

Chances are they won't (particularly as there's no published email address for such communication), and you'll continue to be charged.

TimmyBGood,

You are wrong. Sky replied to my original email. They contacted me because I provided my phone number in the email.

Didn't you know this is a valid email address?

@tw72

If you do that you definitely won't be able to cancel, you'll still be charged but your services will end up restricted and you won't be able to talk to Sky at all.

There are presumably many thousands of email addresses on the dot sky domain.  My point was that email isn't an appropriate mode of communication for cancellations, or indeed for most customer support purposes.

TimmyBGood,

The email address I mentioned is on Sky's own cancellation website.

Re: Trying to cancel or renew? A most unpleasant experience.

Daniel0210,

Why are you defending Sky's attempt to make it almost impossiible to cancel TV services?

I hope I managed to cancel Sky TV today, if not it's back to the war room.

I will not be messed around like this.
