Trying to Cancel Sky TV account

Hi all, I'm trying my hardest to keep cool at the moment. I'm trying to cancel my Sky TV account, I am unable to call because of service at my work.

So my only hope is through the Messaging service, I was in the "queue" for 2 hours this morning and it then decided to crash and now it won't connect again! It's becoming more and more frustrating as I can't get anywhere!

I Believe once I asked to do something regarding a mobile account on here a Sky employee (I think) opened a live chat with me through the community board. Please help me as my bill is so expensive.

Thanks,

@EmmaB90  A Sky employee on this board can process a cancellation for you, no to mention the service is offline temporarily.

To cancel all your TV subscription, if you’re out of contract you’ll need to give Sky the required 31 days notice. The latest T’s and C’s explicitly state you can’t cancel when still in a minimum term deal unless Sky agree. If they agree you’ll have to pay the remainder of your discounted term.

Select ‘Need more help’ at the bottom of the following link which will lead to contact details.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv#contact-leave
(Make sure the flag in the bottom right corner is the correct one ie; UK or ROI).
UK customer ~ The link may include an email link and also a Message Us option (which is normally available between 9am and 7.30pm).
ROI customer ~ it’s only by calling Sky Ireland or writing in.

If you successfully cancel you should receive an acknowledgment email from Sky.

If you are cancelling Sky Q, return packaging will be sent out near the end of your notice period. It’s important that you obtain proof of posting and keep it safe and indefinitely.

If you’re moving to another ISP you could use the One Touch Switching system which is explained in this link
https://www.uswitch.com/broadband/guides/one-touch-switch/

If you are cancelling Broadband/Talk altogether you need to contact Sky and give the required notice of 14 days. Remember that if you are still in a discounted 18/24 months deal Sky could impose cancellation charges.

Return packaging for any equipment Sky expect back will be sent out to you near the end of any notice period. Remember to keep any proof of posting indefinitely.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: Trying to Cancel Sky TV account

Hi GD1,

The Messaging service is down? They should really put that on the box you press to load the chat up then! But that's fine, I'll go about my day and try again later. Thank you for letting me know, also if a sky employee reads this I'll try again at another time.

Many thanks

@EmmaB90

Staff on here can't process cancellations and the Messaging Team mentioned above is not connected to the chat service I think you're referring to.

The Community Messaging service is currently unavailable. However, Sky's wider online chat service is open.

Okay, thank you. How do I access the Wider Online Chat? I've looked everywhere and can't find anything!

@EmmaB90
These are the current methods for contacting Sky. Depending on your reason for making contact some methods are more appropriate than others …

🔹call Customer Services by dialling 150 (free) from either a Sky mobile or a Sky Talk landline.

All calls will start automated which may offer you the online help route (see below) or try to send you here to the forum. Stay on the line as long as possible and saying nothing when asked the reason for the call sometimes helps being put in the queue for an agent.

Note: if your services are restricted due to a missed payment phone contact is unlikely to work.

🔹online help via this link
https://www.sky.com/help
At the end of the help it MAY provide a phone number if it's appropriate.

🔹 Sky Assistant is now available at the top of sky.com/help for most service issues and gives you 24/7 help and a quick response. It will provide you with multiple choice options based on your problem and will provide troubleshooting steps to fix any service issues.

🔹Social Media You can also get in touch via the messaging services on: Facebook, Instagram, or X (links at the bottom of the forum page).
