I have also been a customer for 24 years and now the bill has gone to £72.50. I just cannot get through to anyone to help me. It was £48.50 and now this. It's too expensive now. Despite not happy with the charges they tell you to call back in 7 days when I did get through and get flobbed off.  I just want to leave now but it is impossible to get through to anyone prepared to help. Very infuriating. Online service is rubbish as it just tells you to call. Nothing can be altered online at all. Not happy at all. Staff paid to pressure customers to upgrade and pay for rubbish they do not even watch.

Ultimately, its up to Sky what offers (if any) they are willing to offer customers who are out of a minimum term agreement and looking to get into a new one. They clearly believe their business model is more profitable going after new customers than retaining existing customers.

In the current climate the best deals wil typically be offered to those who every 18-24 months repeatedly switch broadband and TV providers.

To cancel all of your TV subscription, if you’re out of contract you’ll need to give Sky the required 31 days notice. The T&Cs state you can’t cancel when still in a minimum term deal unless Sky agree. If they agree you’ll have to pay the remainder of your discounted term.

Select ‘Need more help’ at the bottom of the following link which will lead to contact details.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv#contact-leave

If you cancel correctly you should receive a confirmation email from Sky.

If you’re cancelling Sky Q don’t forget to keep you proof of posting indefinitely when you return the equipment. Return packaging will be sent out towards the end of your notice period. If you are upgrading to Sky Glass, the return equipment will be sent out towards the end of your 31 day cooling off period for Sky Glass to make sure you don't want to switch back.

To cancel Sky Broadband and Sky Talk totally, or if you’re moving to a provider like e.g Virgin Media who don’t use the Openreach network to provide their service, you'll have to contact Sky and give the required notice of 14 days, but if you are still in the initial 18 months deal Sky could impose cancellation charges. This link may help https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-broadband

If you are changing to another provider who also uses the Openreach infrastructure then join up with them and they should contact Sky on your behalf.

You’ll need to return any loaned routers to Sky, so it’s important you get proof of posting and keep it indefinitely. Return packaging will be sent out to you near the end of the notice period.

As well as the annual price increase perhaps discounts may have recently expired or be ending very soon. Sky will have told you the date the discount was ending when you took it out. You could compare a previous bill to your latest bill and see where the amounts differ
www.sky.com/bill.

If your discount has ended you will need to contact Sky to try to negotiate a new deal which will require another 18 month minimum term contract. Sky are not obliged to offer you another discount so if you’re offered something acceptable you need to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer may no longer be available when you call back.

You can either call Sky or use the following link

Reading all thease posts, I have come to the conclusion due to the cost of living crisis people are switching of their subscription to save money, but sky increases the cost to counter active the losses.

Being a member of the national trust I went to Nufffield Place for the first time, it was owned by William Morris the sole owner or the  Morris car company in Crowley Oxford.

What made me realise that what astute businessman that he was, was during the the Great Depression he actually lowered the price of the cars he was manufacturing, by doing this he actually saved the business from going bankrupt, it actually proved a great move as into todays money he gave away a total of 11 billion pounds to causes, mainly the medical causes.

While also being profoundly anti-union, anti-Semitic and using income from car manufacturering to fund the British Union of Fascists, because, well, history is complicated....

Re: Thank you Sky for being a rip off!! Leaving after almost 24 years :(

I think the crux of the OP is that Sky is far more expensive than it needs to be.

I've been with sky for 24 years & I  have the full sky package. I can't get virgin so I have to keep 'renegotiating' my contract.

I also have a Sky mobile plan which is admittedly extremely cheap but the general customer service is extremely poor.  A call centre on another continent manned by strictly scripted personnel who cover all of sky's brands, at best, averagely is a very poor representation of what the services cost.  It's all just a bit greedy for my liking.

'needs to be' for what purpose?

Sky is a legacy media multiple platform provider, with a huge staff, production facilities and a rolling News service amongst many other aspects.  As such it's not realistic to compare Sky pricing to the much younger streaming companies, particularly as many of those are not currently generating profits anyway.

Not sure I really understand this comment.  No one is forcing you to stay with Sky if you don't think it represents value for money. For TV services there are plenty of other subscription services that provide lots of quality TV and Movies to watch. If you don't think it's value for money it's a simple solution to cancel Sky and perhaps look at subscribing to the other streaming platforms to watch good quality TV content.

For broadband, again there are plenty of other providers and seeing how most providers don't have any sort of USP for broadband in particular every customer should be switching at the end of their minimum term to another provider to make the most of new customer deals.

If that is still broadband only then the only insane thing about it is that you're willingly paying it. Try the MSE Unbundled website and then call Sky to see if they'll get anywhere close to matching the best offer.

Re: Thank you Sky for being a rip off!! Leaving after almost 24 years :(

There are no deals for Sky stream customers. The best they offered me was a £8 discount so from £109 to a £101. This is without any broadband or phone but does have Netflix premium, all home and UHD. Meanwhile a friend I have on sky Q enjoys all this and minus Netflix and cinema for ££68, however does incuhis ultra fast broadband. They've but me off today and I hope others do the same with their ridiculous prices. Why should I pay £30 than a new customer on the exact same package. No thanks.
