Switching account from UK to Ireland

I had a UK Sky account 2 years ago which I lapsed. I have now moved to Ireland and paid a Sky subscription over the phone for TV and Broadband. But when I log onto Sky or use the MySky app, it is showing the previous UK account. Is it possible to switch accounts without changing my email address?

@Ann39 If you left Sky and are rejoining after more than 12 months away your old account would have been closed and a new one created

If you want to use the same email address as the old account you need to remove and replace it with a different address on the old account first

You can do this yourself via this link

https://www.sky.com/myaccount/my-details#M1014

Once done your free to create a new sky id using the same email address here

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-id-start#M1014

if you no longer can't access the old account for whatever reason the only option is to use a different email (you can get free email accounts from the likes of gmail etc)

@Ann39  As you left Sky and then returned after being away for more than a year then your account will have been closed as you have discovered so you will need to set up a new Sky ID.

If you want to use the same email address then you need to first remove it from the old account first as this will then free it up allowing it to be used when setting your new ID up. You can do this by logging into the old account here:

https://www.sky.com/myaccount/my-details

Then delete the email address by providing another one and logout of this account, this will then free it up to use when setting up your new Sky ID:

https://www.sky.com/help/diagnostics/sky-id/sky-id

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

You can use the same email address with your new account but it does need to be removed from your old one first so login to your old here to remove it:

https://www.sky.com/myaccount/my-details

Then delete the email address by providing another one and logout of this account, this will then free it up to be used in your new account.

Re: Switching account from UK to Ireland

Thanks, that made sense as an approach, but after logging back in with my newly freed email address, its not recognising my postcode and doesn't give me any options to continue

@Ann391

To get you some help with this I have escalated your post to the Sky Messaging team who should be in touch with you sometime tomorrow morning regarding this via a blue/red chat bubble which will appear at the bottom of this page.

This link explains how this works so you will need to respond to the chat bubble at the bottom of the page when it appears:
https://community.sky.com/t5/Did-you-know/Escalating-a-post-to-a-Sky-expert/ba-p/3711147

When the chat bubble does appear tomorrow you will have 48 hours to respond or it will be automatically closed.
This isn't a live chat so replies are not instant.

Re: Switching account from UK to Ireland

Hi Tom

I spoke to the helpdesk but they said I needed to talk to the ROI helpdesk. I was travelling yesterday and then lost the bubble.. could you set it up again for me?

The chat bubble should still be there for you @Ann391 as it was only sent yesterday.

Re: Switching account from UK to Ireland

Hi @Tom-W19

I still haven't been able to sort my issue. The Sky UK team responded quickly but apparently the Sky Ireland team have to switch my account. I waited for ages with the message bubble open but noone got in contact so I gave up in the end.

I am sure this could be sorted quickly. Can you help again please?

Ann
