I have just received a call from a couple of Indian people stating they were from Sky and offering me a 30% discount on my package. The number was 020 8144 ****. I asked them what details they had of mine and they wouldnt confirm until I gave them my details. Refused the offer and hung up. Is this a scam call?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIt's not a recognised number for Sky's outbound marketing team, so very possibly the call wasn't genuinely from Sky.

Almost certainly. There are a number of well known-scams that involve your account being used to purchase expensive items*
* which involve a sophisticated method of 'returning' the item to the scammers and you end up paying for it

If you gave personal details like username/password then change this immediately, if you gave bank details then contact the bank via the number on the back of the card - there's usually a direct fraud number to call.

Hi Virginia
Thanks for the response. They had no info from me thankfully. But they did try hard. The alarm was raised when they said I was one of the "Lucky Ones" like a competition winner.

I have just received the same call [number removed], offering a 40% discount on my SKY package. I hung up as it was very obviously a scam. Asian call centre and they did not use my name.
