Struggling to get on the social tariff

I've been asking about the social tariff a couple months before my contract ran out in may 2025,

I currently get superfast 35 broadband and being charged £46 a month then  a £5 discount is applied.

I'm quite angry I'm paying this amount when if I were to change as I have been asking my bill would be £20 a month.

I called the sky retention team today, spoke to 2 different advisors and was told my current bill for the 10th aug is for £82. My bill was cleared a couple weeks ago of £114, so can't understand why my next bill would be this high.

The last advisor said it's because my bill was generated on the 27th July so I can't do anything on the sky app, until this latest bill is cleared.

The very helpful advisor (not) said I should call back in 8 to 10 days to discuss it. I pointed out I'm paying double price for the exact same broadband ( social tariff broadband is superfast 35) or to put it better I'm getting the slowest speed broadband on its own and paying the same as customers who are getting the 300mbs full fibre AND the full TV package. I'm feeling ripped off.

What services do you subscribe to other than Sky Broadband?

Edited to add: are you saying you're not currently on Sky's social tariff? Are you receiving

one of the prescribed benfits?

Re: Struggling to get on the social tariff

Hi, that's all I'm getting the superfast 35. Broadband

, it's comes with a landline include, although I've never used it.

My TV streaming service was cancelled a couple months ago, when I started to struggle with my bills

Re: Struggling to get on the social tariff

I'm on universal credit, I couldn't afford the last £114 payment, which left me penniless for past couple weeks.

I'm quite disappointed in my treatment by sky a d beginning to feel I'd be better off switching to another supplier

@Tonyr315 I would guess that the issue is unfortunately the outstanding bill (which I think is your conclusion too). Once that's settled you'll be able to apply for the social tariff.

Re: Struggling to get on the social tariff

Hi, thanks for the link but I seem to be going around in circles, I keep reading about the social tariff but can't seem to get on it,even though I fit the criteria and calling the sky advisors seems to be a waste of time

Re: Struggling to get on the social tariff

I'll switch before I pay another extortionate bill, I asked the advisor why my bill was clear this Monday, yesterday it was £41 and today it's £82, he said it's because I'm on a rolling month to month contract so the period is longer, but I've been trying for months, for this elusive social tariff.

Maybe another supplier with faster speeds and almost half the price than my current broadband is reluctantly the way forward
