A significant proportion of new content these days is commissioned through and paid for by the global streaming platforms rather than 'made for television'. That's the way the industry has gone: high speed internet access has changed everything.
Inevitably with 24 hours of programming to fill, any particular channel is broadcasting repeats for some of that time.
