Sky threatening to take money for equipment already returned

The title says it all.

First they said they were sending out a box to return additional sky box which we had cancelled.

Then they threatened to take money out of our account. We were straight onto them and they instructed us to return box via An Post here in Ireland which we did. Subsequently they texted - emailed again threatening to take money. Phoned straight away and ended up with some guy in Egypt who promised that this was all sent in error. We gave him the An Post details and he was grovelling away saying not to get upset about it all and that we would not hear from  them again. Imagine our shock and surprise to receive a text just now saying they are going to take monies out of our account! We are writing now to the consumer affairs correspondents of the main Irish newspapers and the regulator here.

It was posted on the 20th March 2025 from Raphoe Post Office (County Donegal). The entire tracking history is on the An Post website.

It isn't my website as you can clearly see but in any case there is no need to post it on here.

I don't know who you are. I have managed to post up the An Post tracking number.

I want an acknowledgement of the safe return of this equipment  and an apology for the distress this whole business has caused me and my family.

I am a customer like you but can alert Sky to your post as they might be able to help you but you still haven't said if you want them to contact you via here tomorrow by a private message so are you ok with them doing this, yes or no ?

Re: Sky threatening to take money for equipment already returned

I have lodged an official complaint this evening , for what that is worth.

I intend to phone them again for the third time tomorrow and to record every word. I have a file ready to send to Conor Pope of the Irish Times. I don't know what authority you do or don't have to deal with this matter. If Sky want to engage on this forum then that is fine by me. The general public should be made aware of their disgraceful and bullying tactics.

Re: Sky threatening to take money for equipment already returned

Still struggling with Sky. They tell me they have escalated my complaint and that I was to receive a call back from a manager. That never happened and instead a person identifying themselves as "Mark" a "manager" told me to ring 0818 7**819 which I did this morning. I had to rehearse the whole history of their accusing me of not returning their equipment again. I informed them that I wish to cancel Sky tv forthwith but they refuse to let me because of this bogus return phone call. They have not informed me of the complaint number as the Irish regulator won't investigate until I have a number. A complete catch 22 situation. In complete desperation I have stopped the bank DD and I look forward to seeing them in Court.

Re: Return equipment

Same problem  here in Ireland. Send back multi room  box and Sky extender with An Post on the 31st March and still receiving aggressive texts and emails.

I have had three lengthy interactions with them on the phone and each time they reassured me that the matter was sorted! I have made a complaint and was told that someone would ring back within 72 hours. Needless to say I have heard nothing. So frustrating. I have now cancelled my banks dd and informed Sky that I am cancelling my Sky sub. Been a customer of upwards of 35 years and this is the way they treat you.

If anyone from Sky is reading this I look forward to seeing you in the District Court together with my journalist contacts.

@Morrow

Cancellationof your direct debit may have been a bit premature. Billing continues through your notice period and bills are actually generated 14 days before your payment date so you may have another payment to make.

Your services could be restricted, you won't be able to call Sky, it may prevent your cancellation, late payment fees will be added and eventually Sky will involve a debt recovery company which may affect your credit rating.
