Sky stream & broadband bill

I have just signed up for Sky stream, and I already sense that I have made a mistake. I am a previous Sky Q & broadband customer but retained the broadband when I cancelled. So as a result I appeared to get a fairly reasonable deal. Going through the package it appeared to be inclusive of Sky broadband, even adding on a new superfast router to my bill. However...upon completing the order I went and checked the My Bill section, and I can see the addition of Sky stream but also the pre-existing broadband bill section. What isn't clear is the projected total cost of my bill, so I'm now concerned that upon activation my bill will become my pre existing broadband + the sky stream on top. For reference the existing broadband was £30pm, sky stream package was £63pm, is this going to be £63 total or £63+£30? If the total is £93 then I'm out already as that is taking the proverbial already!

What did you previously pay for Sky Q and Broadband ?

If Broadband is showing as being £30 and Stream £63 then the total would be £93.

Re: Sky stream & broadband bill

I had a great deal for 18 months, Q multiroom and broadband for £73, but doubled to £150ish at contract end. To save the hassle of finding a new provider I stayed with Sky broadband. It did imply that the total bill including broadband would be £63, as it was on the order but as £0 stating I was already a customer. Slightly miss leading if it just means that I still have to pay it as a separate subscription. Seems like an annoying conversation is to be had tomorrow with their customer services. I really do hate sky.

It is difficult for us customers to say for sure as we can't see what you can so do your future bills clear this up ?

Re: Sky stream & broadband bill

I only have a future bill for broadband, which has an additional setup fee of £10 added for next month, but then continues as it was. There is no bill yet for stream, that only goes live once delivered and activated. If you order sky stream does it come with broadband included? It implied it did and was expecting that to change. Where it hasn't has now lead me to question whether it was, and now strongly suspect its £63+£30. Cooling off period activated, I'm out of here once again. I'll just go to the pub to watch football.

To be honest that £63 probably sounds about right for Sky Stream without the broadband.

You aren't a new Sky customer so wouldn't benefit from any of their new customers deals and depending what additional packages you have on top of the base subscription (Sky sports or cinema or whole home) £63 sounds about the price ballpark they would offer Sky stream for.

I don't think it does so the only way to clear this up would be speaking to Sky.

Re: Sky stream & broadband bill

Just called sky and had it confirmed that it is indeed £63 + £30. Requested a call back at 8.45am to cancel the order. Sky really need to drop this idea that £1000 per year just to watch telly is affordable.

The minimum subscription television tier is typically under £1 per day, but becomes much more expensive rather rapidly when add-ons such as Sports go on top.  Whether paying for linear television can be considered worthwhile is of course subjective: free to air broadcast does still exist.

I suspect most customers don't have broadband solely to watch TV. And many customers don't have broadband with Sky so there's no reason for broadband to be included in the cost of Stream . They're separate products.
