Sky refusing to cancel my broadband

Does anyone have experience with successfully cancelling sky broadband? We switched to virgin on the 31st of May and sky wont cancel eventhough we are not in a contract with them. They are saying they cannot cancel and virgin media have to do it on my behalf. Virgin media say they cannot cancel on my behalf as my virgin media account is live. I’m so stressed as nothing is being done. I’m paying two bills and I’ve got no idea what to do😭😭😭. Virgin media is not budging with cancelling on my behalf and sky is nor cancelling eventhough they refunded me my bill for my internet on the 19th of June. Please someone help me

Did you use the switching service when you signed up with Virgin:

If so and your Sky Broadband wasn't cancelled as part of this then you should be able to cancel it via Sky by giving them 14 days notice to do this so I wouldn't mention Virgin when you call again but just say you want to give them notice to cancel.

Yea I used the one touch switch process. When I go to cancel with sky they say they are unable to as there is a switch in process and to contact Virgin. But the switch has already happened and Virgin aren't budging on doing it for me. I am a total loss on what to do and at a loss financially

On the link I posted above it does say this:

 

This largely works very well, but a small number of customers have run into an error at this stage. If this happens to you, it's worth directly contacting the provider you are switching to so you can supply your details to a representative.

 

It should be up to Virgin to inform Sky that they have taken over your broadband, perhaps try posting on their community forums for help..
