Sky VIP a waste of time?

Are there actually any benefits to being a Sky VIP member? Apart from an occasional free film, which is usually one I've already watched or don't care to watch, there are loads of benefits and prizes on offer which I can enter a draw to win; however, having entered countless of these free draws, I have never won one, so now confine my Sky VIP emails straight to the bin.

@Roksan

There are many million VIP members so the chances of winning one of the bigger prizes is very small. At the end of the day it's free to enter and your VIP level allows you extra entries.

Re: Sky VIP a waste of time?

I check the VIP section of the app sporadically and have recently had some useful free tickets to a couple of exhibitions at the Design Museum and the Science Museum in London, saving me roughly £30 each time. That alone has made it worthwhile for me at least. I can see how for those not in London the opportunities are perhaps a lot less.

When practically EVERYONE is labelled VIP then no one is actually a VIP, I don't even bother checking the app to see what is available

Well, I suppose Sky can't please all of the people all of the time....

It's free so you've nothing to lose.

Very true. I do try not to become a grumpy old man, but I'm failing miserably 😁

We've got a few free kids books from it, that's about it. Living in NI most of the ticket offers are of no real use but it's just some added value. Things like the 6 month Apple tv etc are a nice extra, D+ has been a great addition which does give some balance to what is probably an overpriced service.

Sky have 700k subscribers in Ireland. If uk had similar rate to population (1/7th), then say for simplicity 9.3m uk, total 10m in uk and ireland

Then even if only one per cent of the customers entered a competition, that is 100,000 other competitors for prize. Like currently there is 2 prizes (the super bowl competition), it would still be 1 in 50,000 odds to win for that competitions

Even if you enter 25 competitions in a year for 10 years  the odds are still very much against you based on that guestimate.

At in 1 in 100,000, 250 competitions in 10 years, odds are 1 in 400 of winning. But I think 1% is a low estimate for participation rates

But as well as the competitions, you can apply to tickets for audience like to soccer am or other shows, cinema tickets, and other shows.

I got a couple of audio books with sky vip and such so it's not entirely a waste. Maybe expectations are a bit high, expecting to win but sky have a whole lot of customers.

I've had a few cinema tickets through VIP, and a couple of events,  but the biggest item was 2 tickets for Pretty Woman The Musical. Very pleased to discover they were very good seats - second most expensive in the theatre.

If you live in London or are prepared to travel there then you will find some of the rewards useful.

As most of us don't or won't travel then yes,it is pretty useless....

Re: Sky VIP a waste of time?

Totally a waste of time . I'm cancelling sky because clearly they overcharge me to give rewards to those that live in cities . Not a single reward or offer available within 100 miles of my home . Bore off sky you're not that good tbh .👎👎👎👎👎

Nope. Rewards aren't funded by subscriptions.
