Selling products that are not suitable

So, an engineer calls to fix an issue with my broadband and sells a 'free' Sky Cinema package to my son in my absence (dodgy ethics).

Of coure it is not 'free' and despite not using the service I have now been charged on my latest bill.

Trying to contact Sky to remove a package is extremely diifficult - it can only be done by telephone where you go through another sales/retention process. Ofcom or whoever the latest useless regulator is are clueless - this practice should be outlawed or at the very least a customer  should be easily able to logon online and remove the package themselves. Strange how you can add a package online but not remove it.

I'm forced to come on here to vent frustration as Sky's customer service is unbearable - thinking of moving to Virgin but not sure they will be any better lol

Presumably your son is the responsible adult you'd left at the address to deal with the visit. He could always have said no. Did the engineer ask him whether he was the account holder or just presume he was.

These deals are normally free for a set period ie; 1 month or 2 months. You then have to cancel it if you don't want to carry on with it.

To remove part of your TV package you now need to give Sky 31 days notice. Also make sure cancellation of a certain add-on doesn’t cancel another part of a discount. You may be able to remove it from your MySky account at
https://www.sky.com/mysky/tv/tv-packs
otherwise you can either call Sky or maybe try the messaging service
