Request refund to bank account

Hi I have a credit due on my account as the amount was taken last month in error.  I would like this to be repaid directly to my bank or credit card rather than as a credit against my mobile bill which is quite small and we need the money as that payment left our account short and we can't afford to have it sat with Sky for the next 7 months which is the length of time it will take to use up that credit when we need the money now.....  How do we get this actioned please?

@Rec74

As you state the credit is due to be on your Sky account I presume it's not showing yet. How was this payment taken in error? Not all credits can be returned to a bank account and can only be used as credit whilst a Sky account is active.

@Rec74

Do you mean you see a credit on your account due to paying your bill manually in error ?

Re: Request refund to bank account

Sorry for clarity, we cancelled our broadband contract and switched to Vodafone but whilst we cancelled as per the notice period for some reason that cancellation didn't notify billing who took the following month's payment.  They are crediting our account but we don't want the £70+ to sit there and be used against our small monthly mobile bill when we really need that money back in our bank account.

@Rec74

Your broadband account and Sky Mobile accounts are separate so cancelling broadband won't move the credit to a mobile account.

If your payment method is still active on your Sky broadband account refunds usually take up to 6 weeks from your last day of connection. If your payment method has been cancelled Sky will have to manually raise a cheque (usually involving a back office team) and post it to you so it’ll take longer.

Once the credit is showing on your Sky account, if you wish, we can try to help get it refunded within 3-5 working days via the Messaging Team on here. Let us know on this thread if that’s what you want to do but please confirm when it’s showing as a credit on your Sky account.

@Rec74

To see if they can help you I’ve escalated your post to Sky and their Messaging Team should contact you later.

Look out for a post from one of the team inviting you to a private chat and then you should see a blue/red speech bubble at the bottom of your forum page. You’ll have 48 hours to click on it and start the private chat or it will close automatically. If you fail to respond to a chat reply within 48 hours the chat will again close down automatically even if your issue hasn’t been resolved. Replies from Sky aren’t instant so you’ll need to check the chat thread periodically.

This link explains what happens.
