Renewal negotiation advice?

My contract comes to an end in 6 days (superfast broadband = £33p/m, due to increase to £44 afterwards - not including the 6.7% CPI increase in April.

When I've spoken to sky about a 'reasonable monthly payment' for a renewal, I am being there isn't any budging.

And there is also no response when I mention that I'd like the April increase to be taken into account.

Due to the timing whatever I agree and sign for will be immediately higher with the 6.7% CPI.

I've been with Sky for 8 years and I know not to expect new customer deals, but I've always had a good interaction with renewals came to an agreeable amount.

Has anyone else had any issues of late with renewing? Or any advice? I'm not sure if the CPI can be taken into account when negotiating a deal.
It's as if the strategy has changed to not being too bothered to lose customers.

Recent posts suggest that good discounts are becoming harder to negotiate. You might get offered something better if you give notice to cancel, but there's no guarantee.

Also if you are a Sky Q or + customer, you will likely be offered a better price if you were to switch over to Sky Stream.

Re: Renewal negotiation advice?

Thank you for your advice!

I contacted sky again and managed to get a deal/payment I am happy with.

So if anyone needs to renew, perhaps it's worth talking to a few different sky people,  and not to feel pressured to accept an offer on the spot.

That's good to hear. Definitely worth trying again if the immediate offer isn't good enough, but beware that an offer made by one adviser may not be available again if you call back later.
