Hi all,
Hope you are all well.
I'm sure we are all familiar with the recent reluctance from sky to offer any decent recontracting deals. With my bill increasing to £146 next month now that my contract is ending, I thought it would be a good idea (as usual) to call and attempt to re-contract.
Here's my current package:
Sky Signature
Sky HD
Netflix (HD, no adverts)
Sky Sports
Sky Sports HD
Multiscreen
Sky Broadband Ultrafast 1
After much back-and-forth with the initial agent, the best they could do was reduce it to £139. Needless to say, I was shocked (even though this was somewhat expected) and I really couldn't stomach it. I therefore requested to be put through to the cancellation department. After much persuasion from my end, the agent eventually put me through.
After another 25 minutes or so, the best and final offer from sky came in at £111 a month for 24 months. Let's not forget about the £20 admin fee, which was non-negotiable and apparently could not be removed under any circumstances.
Reluctantly, I accepted the offer. However, reading some threads on this forum it seems to suggest that I should have actually given notice and waited for better offers to arrive.
How bad is my deal? I'm not exaggerating when I say it took over an hour and multiple offers to get this down to £111. It really was like trying to get blood out of a stone and I really don't see how I could've done any better.
I suppose I'm just looking for reassurance that my deal isn't that bad considering the package. I would be grateful for any feedback.
Thank you!
Sam

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAnecdotally sounds 'good' - it seems the days of large discounts are gone.
The only way to get better deals is to actually leave.
Note the price will also go up as it's is discounts that are fixed and not the price.
I negotiated away admin fees but did actually give notice to leave.

@PandJ2020Thank you for your reply. Yes, sorry to mention, I am aware of the April price increases each year - just a necessary evil at this point....
