I signed up to Sky 150mb for £27 a month on the 30/1 and it went live yesterday (13/2). Within a few hours of going live I received an email telling me they were going to increase the price by £3 a month (11% !). If I had known it was going to go up by such a large percentage I would never have switched to Sky.
Can anyone confirm that due to the price rise I can leave without paying any penalties for early termination ?.
Cancelling a subscription within a day is not something I take lightly, but I am so angry as to how Sky have gone about this - what happened to their Prices locked for 24 months declaration ?

There is a price review (and ultimately a price increase) every year and in the UK it's in April. If you remain in your 24 month discounted deal you'll see a further price change in April 2026 too.

I don't think Sky make that declaration.
It's actually your discounts that remain fixed for the duration of your minimum term. It's explained in the terms and conditions you agreed to.

You'll be on a pre-OfCom changes contract - either way, I believe you can cancel without penalty.
The majority of Sky contracts are not fixed price. If you switch elsewhere then you'll find most providers will set out increases in pounds, which you'll find are quite high given the current state of inflation.
Your increase feels worse as the list price increases and your discount remains static.

@Leeving There are plenty of providers who dont increase prices in contract.. I am currently with one of them on a 24 month contract after moving from Sky last year after getting fed up of thier annual price increase, I moved from 78mb with sky to my new provider on 500mb for less than I was paying with Sky and you are currently paying prior to the price rise. It does depend what providers you have in your area but I quick search will let you know. My new provider is excellent and get constant 500mb upload and download speeds.

Is Virgin Media available to you, my sister just managed to haggle and get 250 Virgin fibre for £21 a month. 🙌 thinking of trying it myself on referral.

Many thanks for the replies
I've discovered that due to the price increase I can leave without penalty, and also because I've just signed up I am within the cooling off period. So it is Bye Bye Sky......... it's been emotional 💩

Just be aware that Virgin Media's customer service is notoriously bad and the price jumps significantly at the end of the 18 month contract. The current price is £60, add in the April 2025 and 2026 price increases of £3.50 and it will be £67.

But in all honesty never had any issues with the customer service until I decided to leave. Prices do rise after promotions, but I think nowadays people will move about, even for for an 18 month saving.
