Re: Price increase April 1st 2026

To be honest, I was so focused on getting the notification email resent to reset the clock it hadn't dawned on me until after the call that I was still within the 30 days.

I shall be calling them tomorrow.

Anyone still not received an email about the price increases ? I've checked my future predicted bills and nothing on there either ?

If your future billing isn't showing the increase then you may have escaped - there's an alternative date in August.

Re: Price increase April 1st 2026

Hi Slaters,

No price increase for me. It disappeared from future predicted bills & they said my price increase would be in November.

Good luck

If there are no rises showing in your future bills then you can't cancel or renegotiate until you receive notification down the line. Just make sure to read any and all emails in the future or at least check your future bills once a month.

@Yoghurt

The annual price rise occurs in April for all UK customers. If you join or renew around that period the proposed increase is sometimes deferred for a few months and is then applied. It's kind of a grace period so you don't get hit by the price increase immediately.

Your next proper price increase (we have to assume there will be one) will be in April 2027.

Re: Price increase April 1st 2026

Still no sign of any price increases on my April bill. I have netflix standard and sky website says a £2 increase from April too ?

Re: Price increase April 1st 2026

After waiting nearly a week for the official notification to come through, I escalated with Sky retention team on the 17th March and after about 30 mins of arguing with them and a few offers to reduce the cost of my package, they finally agreed to terminate my fibre broadband contract without penalty.

Funny then that my official notification came through via email the next day (despite them previously telling me they couldn't email it).  I still got a number of emails after the event saying I will owe them £390 for termination.  But they assure me that they won't charge me.

So hopefully all will be OK and I look forward to my new Virgin package, which gives me the same products and 500mb BB, but at half the price.

I guess you just need to persevere with them.

VM are a funny lot.   As expected, my teaser deal run out and the cost rockets...

I agreed a new deal online (which was 'ok' as I couldn't be bothered to switch) and then it didn't happen.  VM said it had been 'withdrawn' and wasn't available.  So after a bit of haggling and complaining they renewed at HALF that price and threw in a call package and doubled the bandwidth.

Strange, as I was 'happy' with my original offer.

Re: Price increase April 1st 2026

To be fair, I gave Sky more than enough chances to drop their prices when my TV packages were up and they flatly refused, so they set me on the path to switch.

Only when I actually gave them the 30d notification did they then try to put a deal in place.

Agree with you on the teaser rates, but at least they last until Apr 2028, I reckon I will save myself 1,500 over that time and  see if Sky want me back in 2028

Re: Price increase April 1st 2026

Just to close out my posting.  All switched over to VM now and despite the early frustrations, in the end Sky were very efficient in closing down my subscriptions and contracts without penalties on the broadband as they agreed.

I had heard some horror stories about Sky during the switchover, but it all went very smoothly, which they should be credited for.

So it all worked out well in the end for me.  So far I really like the VM UI and simple navigation between Apps and of course the x3 broadband speed is fantastic.

For transparency, and as highlighted by a community member earlier in the thread, VM have given me an estimated contract price for Apr 2028 after my teaser rates ends, which is more in line with Sky pricing......but that is for future me to think about, I am just going to enjoy the savings for the next 2years.

Yes, but you can negotiate nearer the time of course.  To get the lowest possible price you almost always have to switch - but in my case I got a good price to stay.  (As long as you don't expect your current supplier to beat/match new customer rates elsewhere then you may be happy to stay for a reasonable price)
