@Philselley

Have your discounts ended or is it the annual price increase? Your post has been moved into a thread discussing this years price increase.

Re: Price hike April 2024

Well, aren't I the lucky one. Actually managed to get through to Sky call centre. So they gave me some discounts last year when I rang regarding increases (probably March time). I remember paying a £10 admin fee for the privilege of changing my subscription.

Those discounts expire in May BUT my contract doesnt end until September. If I cancel now they'll charge me £163.

The best price he could give me was £61.00pm. Just to recap, I pay £48.50 for BB (up to about 50mbs) & Sky sig. Thats to increase to £63.50 in May.

It was suggested I call again in April. 😡

Re: Price hike April 2024

I was told that I could cancel my whole subscription,  broadband and TV,, no penalty, even though in contract till October. That said, wasn't confident C.S. knew what he was talking about.

Read and weep

OK, so a lot of you are complaining about the increases and possible breach of contract.  I have been on the phone to Sky and had a very interesting conversation.  No problem with the increase but the amount added did not match the announced amounts.  Apparently they have added on last years increase even though I signed my contract on the 19th April.  Because I missed last years increase they have added it on this year - so I get a double increase.  This has been done even though I agreed to continue with Sky based on an offer made lasting for 18 months, allowing for this years increase.  So the amount I agreed to was not a true amount because they were always going to add in last years increase.  And apparently Sky have a right to increase prices as they wish - this is what I was told.  So nearly 18 years with Sky and this is how one is treated.  Time to leave for sure - roll on October.

Sounds like you were undercharged for a year then.

Yes, they can - subject to the contractual restrictions relevant to increases.  (primarily the list price can only increase once per year)

Ridiculous price hike , 25 years with sky

I know you have heard it many times before but sky are taking the ****.

25 years with sky tv and broadband and my latest contract is up in 4 weeks. Ive been paying £82.00 a month, its going up to £91.00 next month then its going to be £127.00. Spoke to 2 people in an indian call centre and they cant do any better than £116.00 a month. Im finally tired of having to negotiate every year to try to get a good deal. This year they just dont seem interested, 25 years of loyalty doesn't seem to matter to them. I can get virtuallythe very same package including 4x faster broadband from EE for £71.00. So it looks like ill be leaving sky.

Good discounts on renewal do seem to be harder to come by just now. I too would be thinking of going elsewhere with that price differential.

Re: Price hike April 2024

Its a shame that sky dont seem bothered about loosing customers, ive always had to ring and haggle but in the end ive always got a reasonable deal. Whats funny is in the past i always got through to a scottish

agent now its always indian call centres and they simply dont seem bothered.

Re: Sky - Becoming Una££ordable!?

Astromical prices.

The sports product and entertainment has been diluted with proliferation of providers and fragmentation of product.

Price decrease would be justified.

Although it would look like a monopoly it would be in the interest kf consumers for Sky and Tnt to merge then negotiate a lower price with Premier League.

Cost of living crisis whilst they get lifetime salaries of average person in a week. It used to be as a vip customer of decade or more with Sky they'd negotiate every 18 months from £120 down to £70 Now they quote £200 fir same product. Yes per month!!

 New offers to new customers in.line with old offers but the decades of loyalty count for little.

Every book on business talks of customer retention how to's.

That would be don't do what Sky do.

The execs and board need to wake up snd smell the cheap coffee of the cost of living CRISIS.

Hello.......

Worth noting that currently this is the model the industry utilises because clearly it's the most profitable model.

Sky must be happy with it otherwise they would change. Don't forget they are now owned by Comcast whose main goal is profitability and share price so everything they do will be with a view to maximising both.

Its quite simple if people are unhappy then leave Sky and move to a competitor, but expect the competitor to act in the same way once your minimum term contract with them ends. In order to constantly benefit from the best offers you need to switch providers every 18-24 months when your contract allows.

@MarkGoldsmith

No, other companies do not act like Sky who seem bent on alienating and losing customers.  They are losing me for the sake of £20 after 18 years - not wise.  An example - my EE mobile contract, 2 lines, comes to an end next month.  A lovely conversation with EE, amazing customer service, halved my price from £36 to £18 - both lines have 30gb and unlimited calls and texts - £9 each.  Also said I had missed increase.  That is how you treat and retain loyal customers.
