Who is defending it?
You did sign up to mid-contract price rises, unless you've never had a price rise?
"discounted period" is not "contract". You are in a contract the entire time you're a customer.

Not defendable, even for you sudo sky employee's if you are going to increase prices give me the chance to cancel

Sure you can cancel if the contract term you agreed allows it.
For TV is DOESN'T. For broadband it DOES.

@robo5 Maybe you shouldn't sign up to contracts you clearly don't read, understand or disagree with the terms and conditions.
The amount of posts the annual rise generates each year with "i dont agree with this", "im on fixed term", "they cant do this im in a contract" is ridiculous, mid contact rises are not a new phenomenon if you dont want to pay it then dont sign up, no one forces you to but if you do sign up you cant then complain when it happens.

Didn't agree, was introduced into t&c's because of their greed, 25 years ago there was no mid contract price rises so why are there now ? GREED!!! I have no problem with them introducing mid contract price rises but give me the chance to cancel........

I'm confident that you're wrong - and I've been with Sky for longer than that.
But if there's no provision in your contract for mid-term price increases, you have grounds for complaint with Sky, so raise it formally with them. You're not doing that here.

I have spent 41 minutes trying to sort out a price increase of 12.2% to be told repeatedly that they can do nothing about this annual increase as it's in your contract .
may I suggest that sky consider looking into contract lengths and the prices offered for that period so that customers understand exactly what they are paying for and for how long. Sharp practice from sky as far as I'm concerned and unless they resolve this issue I will be finding another supplier in June when renewal is due .Always regarded Sky as an ethical company but now realise that's not the case very disappointing

I don't understand - what's the issue? They are implementing terms you agreed?
If you have broadband services then you can leave within 30 days - you can't for TV contracts.

Also practically all supplies in this industry do exactly the same thing.
In fact Sky are slightly unique in that you can leave the broadband contract due to the price increase which most other providers don't allow.
im not really sure what your correct when signing a long term contract. Inflation means costs increase and therefore a company would need to increase their prices annually to compensate for their costs increasing. If contracts were 12 months then yes I agree there shouldn't be a price increase but over the past several years the industry has switched to 18 and 24 month contracts so its just not feasible for those to be fixed price for that length (unless you want to pay substantially more at the start of a contract in order to have a fixed price for a longer term).

There's no apostrophe in "employees" and sudo is a linux command for adopting elevated user privileges. You're thinking of "pseudo".
And I agree, prices shouldn't be increased during a locked-in commitment period unless it's made very clear at the start.

It's impossible to get the Virtual Assistant to even understand that I want to query the price increase. Every attempt to ask about it goes nowhere! I think I'll give up and remember when the contract is up & go elsewhere

@MarkG661 Thats generally not the purpose of the Virtual Assistant, its more there to help point you to useful Sky Help documentation for issues that can be self resolved.

I just wanted to know why I get a big price increase in April 24 when I did a new deal in December 23? Surely the deal can't just get overridden in the price increase ?
