This might be due to discounts ending but it would have been nice for them to notify me of this first.

Sky don't notify you of discounts expiring. It's best to make a note yourself so you can re-negotiate, if you wish,

Re: Price hike April 2024

No nothing at all, i'm pretty sure guidelines state a company must give at least 30 days notice of any price change.

Re: Price hike April 2024

I've gone onto the chat as well, and have been told some of the price increase is due to offers changing. I thought Sky would have made me aware of this but they didn't. The way things work I suppose

@DiB1984

Regarding the discounts ending the only time you are told about this is when they are applied so you would have been told they last for 12/18 months as it is then up to you to make a note of the end date.

Re: Price hike April 2024

It's the offers changing rather than expiring discounts so I misunderstood that bit

Re: Price hike April 2024

My price rise is 14.8% on a pretty basic package of Superfast broadband and Sky signature. I know that they have the right to apply an increase but saying in the PR it's going 'on average' to be 6.7% and then doubling it for a lot of people is not a business looking after it's customers. I spoke with their customer service and was just told I was on the best package they had and to call back at the end of the month.

The average Sky quote is necessarily based on the increase in the list price across the product range and doesn't take account of any discounts you might have or what services you might individually subscribe to. They can't do it any other way because not everyone has the same services, and even if they did, they wouldn't have the same discount.

It is, on average, just short of 7%.

Re: Price hike April 2024

I signed up to a new customer broadband deal in July 2022 £31 for 6 months then then £36. In December last year with renewal went up to £45.50 and my contract has just ended but they now want £50.50 for the same package! I only have broadband (and talk by default cos I have to but I don't have a landline phone). It's extortionate. I have seen new customer packages including sky tv for way less. I have just tried to email them to discuss and cancel any renewal but my email has bounced back as they are now saying they don't use email anymore and linked me to the robot chat. JOKE

@Hayley1987P
To cancel Sky Broadband and Sky Talk totally, or if you’re moving to a provider like Virgin Media or City Fibre etc who don’t use the Openreach set up, you'll have to contact Sky and give the required notice of 14 days. This link may help https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-broadband

If you are changing to another provider who also uses the Openreach infrastructure then join up with them and they should contact Sky on your behalf.

Return packaging will be sent out to you near the end of the notice period. Remember to keep any proof of posting indefinitely.

@Hayley1987P Sky don't use email as a general means of contact. It's far simpler to negotiate via a phone call. Just to be clear, at the end of your current deal your subscription will automatically continue at Sky's list price subject to 31 days cancellation notice.

Re: Price hike April 2024

Just called about this. I cancelled last year and agreed a new term where this price increase was notmentioned. They wont let me cancel, wont reduce the costs so after the end of this contract im finished with sky forever. Im seeking legal advice about this as it disgusting.

Why would they? You agreed the contractual terms and conditions which include details of the annual price rise.

Re: Price hike April 2024

As far as I aware you can cancel but your have to pay what's left of your contract.
