Re: Price hike April 2024

Lots of comments from long standing Sky customers in this thread, this year.

Am just wondering if Sky/Comcast/Murdoch PLC or whoevers sat in Sky's ivory tower,do actually spare a thought for the likes of YOU and ME?

My girlfriend works in the video gaming industry, and if youre a gamer, you'll know where she's coming from.

She sarcastically says that give it two years, and you'll be forced to pay microtransactions to watch Sky.

As things stand with Sky's business or should I say greed model, dont rule ANYTHING out.

Re: Price hike April 2024

I think you are totally right. Switch providers each time your contracts up. EE reckon 2-3 weeks to switch over to them so i need to act fast if not ill be left with no services for a period of time. Tried in vane to get a U.K agent as in the past i dealt with scotts who were very helpfull. The indian call centres simply are not interested.. Maybe another reason to leave as you cant even speak to someone in your own country now.

Re: Price hike April 2024

I've just moved from Sky broadband because of the excessive price rise.

Like other, Sky seemed to have no interest in retaining me as a customer.

All my bills have been paid in full and on time. Sky have never had any additional costs in providing my services with engineer visits or replacement equipment.

What I'm staggered about is it is actually going to cost Sky for me to leave.

They will have to send out a returns package for their hub, pay the cost of return and (no doubt) pay their third party return centre to handle it.

Of course, in terms of doing a switch, you have to factor in the 'impact'.

By this I mean, e-mail addresses, configuration of new router, reconfiguration of WiFi devices etc.

For me this was easy. I made the decision some years back to use a third partly e-mail provider and purchase my own internal LAN equipment.

When I switched, I simply had to connect my new provider's router and move the WAN cable from my own router from the Sky hub to that.

I was amazed to find the Prime stream my other half was watching at the time didn't even stutter!

No, other companies do not act like Sky who seem bent on alienating and losing customers.  They are losing me for the sake of £20 after 18 years - not wise.  An example - my EE mobile contract, 2 lines, comes to an end next month.  A lovely conversation with EE, amazing customer service, halved my price from £36 to £18 - both lines have 30gb and unlimited calls and texts - £9 each.  Also said I had missed increase.  That is how you treat and retain loyal customers.

Your specific deal covers only mobile which is a far more competitive market so I would certainly expect better renewal deals for that.

The TV subscription market is certainly different, and less competitive with only really Virgin and EE TV as directly competitors in the marketplace.

Whilst there is competition in the broadband market it's not really that price competitive as you might expect as new customers deals can generally be loss leading for companies in order to get new customers through the door.

@MarkGoldsmith really not my point. I am talking about courtesy, respecting loyalty and doing the best for the customer. And please dont reply with your unhelpful and ratter disturbing support of Sky. I have been with them near 2 decades and have never been treated like this.

You could ask Sky, but I doubt it.

Is there a letter in the Message section of your My Sky account?

Its possible the email Sky sent ended up in a junk folder but all official comms sent is always available within your My Sky account.

Re: Price hike April 2024

I got the email and letter a while back advising me of a £6 per month increase, which is fine, I then check my bills this morning to find Sports is going up £3 a month and Cinema by £1 (not a lot I know), which I cannot see anywhere in any recent correspondence. This might be due to discounts ending but it would have been nice for them to notify me of this first.
