Possible scam phone calls on 8th and 9th October 2024

Had phone calls on my landline number from "Mr King" regarding my Sky subscription and maintenance

contract renewal. He said my contract subscription was up for renewal on 8th October. I asked him to phone back because I needed time to check my documents. I asked him to confirm the last 4 numbers of my sky contract number and the numbers he gave did not match any of the numbers on my documents.

Also, my subscription is not up for renewal until 2025.  Sky don't make it easy to contact them quickly by phone.

With the mention of maintenance there's every chance this was a call from Sky Protect operated by Domestic and General Insurance who have an annoying habit of suggesting they are 'Sky'.

Or it was a scam.

Did "Mr King" ask you for your telephone password as Sky should do because if they didn't it could well be a scam as there are calls going around offering 30% discounts and the like which might have been what this was.
