Phishing or just rude?

Hi,

I got a call last night from the sky sales team ( number checks out on this website). I don't currently have sky but I used to.

I was interested in the deal they were offering but I was concerned when they asked for my account password and/or my mothers maiden. They couldn't tell me my address where I used to have sky. When I said I wasn't giving him my mothers maiden name he was rude "that's on you" and hung up.

i know the number checks out but sophisticated scammers can appear to be calling you from the correct number. I suspect it was Sky sales team - perhaps they could offer a different way of verifying who they are rather than being rude (which is a very scammy type behaviour!)

@RobH485

With any calls from 'Sky' (especially unexpected calls) if the caller asks for your previously agreed telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which I would expect a genuine Sky agent to do) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then you know it'll likely be a scam call.
