November price rises to sky tv

Despite price rises in April , I've now received another notification that there will be further increases in November to our Sky Signature  TV package , with the rather confusing  headline content saying  "

Thank you for your continued loyalty. At Sky, it's our mission to bring you innovative new technology and great customer service, whilst giving you the best value for money.  "

i am confused as I had thought the prices were annual  in April - it seems rather unfair to have another price hike within the year. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm stuck in contract so can't leave - i had not anticipated another rise just yet.

Hi @Donr1   What exactly has gone up? look at the bill detail and see what has increased and why by comparing your previous bill with the current one. Unless you joined or changed something recently, it will not be a annual price rise.

Re: November price rises to sky tv

That's why I'm so confused as I've never had a random price hike before. We've not made any changes. It's the sky signature package and it's rising by £3.30 from November with the only explanation being "

Thank you for your continued loyalty. At Sky, it's our mission to bring you innovative new technology and great customer service, whilst giving you the best value for money.

We're committed to keeping prices as low as we can but need to review our pricing from time to time. No action is needed from you, but you can find out about the changes below."  There is then a table telling me that my Sky Signature is rising by £3.30 per month from 24th November.

You may have missed the April increase for the Signature package?

Re: November price rises to sky tv

Just reveived an email this afternoon to say my Ultimate package is rising by 3.10 in November thats 10% on what I was paying. The rest of the email is the same as quoted above by "Donr1"

No real explanation as to why.I am still in a discounted contract till April 2027.

Who knows why? or who do we contact to get an explanation.

That discount doesn't include a fixed price so for whatever reason (perhaps you didn't have an increase back in April on this year) it is the price prior to the discount that is increasing so the actual discount you have should remain the same.

Re: November price rises to sky tv

I've had the bill increase email too. The amount already went up in April when my contract renewed at a higher amount, and now they want to increase it again. [Removed] So much for rewarding loyalty - I'd get a better deal being a new customer

Re: November price rises to sky tv

Mine's also going up in November by £3.10, but I think that's because I recontracted in April, so avoided the price rise then.

Re: November price rises to sky tv

I know what you're saying, but, my renewal increased my bill £4 when it was updated in April so I've already had an increase and now they want more yet I'm not getting anything better. Just more squeezing by companies to get money and then saying it like they're doing us a favour - that's the real kicker in all this "thanks for staying with us, now give us more money for having exactly what you had before"

Re: November price rises to sky tv

And now, new customers can get exactly what I have right now for £22 a month. So, again, I ask how is this fair, and how is this rewarding our supposed loyalty?? It's completely all wrong

@DiscoDave50

Better discounts are offered to new customers as an incentive for them to join. Most providers do this.

If you choose to jump ship and go with another provider then in 18/24 months you'll be in the same position with that provider and if you want you'll be able to return to Sky as a new customer and gain the benefits available at that time.

So basically don't like it leave? Not really rewarding loyalty though is it? Which is my point, and why I get so annoyed with the wording used by Sky when they make it sound like they're doing me a favour by increasing the bill.

I think you're mixing up new customer discounts (to attract customers to switch) and loyalty (discounts for staying).

You'll get a discount but it won't be a loss-leader amount that new customers get...

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

@DiscoDave50

The bill is probably increasing because a discount has expired. If you don't negotiate a new more then you'll be paying the full undiscounted cost.

Presumably the corporate overlords at the top of that skyscraper in Philadelphia have other opinions on the topic.
