Hi All,
I'm a recently signed-up customer for Sky broadband, the residential version (I've recently moved from Australia to the UK).
But I've identified that I need a static IP for work (working from home), but this bolt-on is available only on the Sky Connect *business* broadband service.
I contacted Sky, and they insist that it's not an option to upgrade/change a broadband service from the residential version to the business version.
Which means that I have to sign up for TWO broadband services at my home, if I want the static IP.
Does that sound right/reasonable?
Being an IT person myself, I'm thinking that there isn't a technical reason why the upgrade can't be performed (happy to be advised otherwise!).
Thanks for your help,
Ross.

I'd imagine a mixture of technical and business process reasons: Sky Connect isn't an 'upgrade' within the domestic broadband service family, but a separate and specifically targeted product with a very different (and rather odd) set of T&Cs including one clause which seems to rule out 'normal' domestic internet access entirely.
5.6 You undertake and agree:
Technically I suspect the fixed IPs available to Sky Connect subscribers come from a different pool to those allocated dynamically to Sky Broadband domestic users, and there's also the complication of the multiple additional voice line service (a rebadged Comcast 'VoiceEdge' cloud PBX) and 4G failover option on Connect which aren't offered on the non-business packages.

@TimmyBGood Thanks very much for your well reasoned, complete and articulated response!
In these days of working-from-home, I suspect that Sky will have a hard time enforcing the "for business purposes only" clause.
Thanks again.
