Re: My Broadband price has doubled
@Hymerman Quite simple really, it would appear your discounted term has ended and you are now paying full price.

Re: My Broadband price has doubled
@Hymerman
Unless you’ve recently changed your subscription, prices go up for either the annual price increase (April in the UK), when your discounts have ended, or a combination of the two.
Sky will have told you the date any discount was ending when you took it out so if it has ended you’ll be paying the full undiscounted price.
Perhaps compare a previous bill to your latest bill and see where the amounts differ
www.sky.com/bill.
If you’re no longer in a discounted minimum term, or its ending soon the best new discounts are normally acquired by calling Sky and negotiating or potentially amending your package which will now require a 24 month minimum term contract. Sky are not obliged to offer you another discount, and recent posts on here indicate that significant discounts are now harder to come by. If you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer may no longer be available when you call back.

By Sky implementing the terms you agreed to?

Because Comcast Corporation stockholders would rather prefer their Sky Group division to actually make a profit, and broadband at that original amount basically doesn't do so.

Re: My Broadband price has doubled
Several other companies are a lot cheaper closer to my original price , and as for making a profit they make huge amounts

Re: My Broadband price has doubled
What you're seeing with other companies are deals for new customers. Better discounts are offered to new customers as an incentive for them to join.
If you choose to jump ship and go with another provider then in 18/24 months you'll be in the same position with that provider and if you want you'll be able to return to Sky as a new customer.

Simply switch, then. No drama.

a) ISPs choose to break even (or even lose money) on an initial minimum contract term because they know a percentage of customers won't switch at the end of it
b) Altnet ISPs (those not using the national Openreach network) don't pay BT Wholesale rental prices for bearer circuits and spend start-up capital to offer unsustainable pricing

Huge revenues, no profit....

(not to mention the 40 billion dollar price tag in 2018 and the 8.6 billion dollar write-down in 2022)
