Monthly Cost not what I was told

Hi, yesterday I called Sky to get the Sports package added, we currenlty had the basic subscription to Sky @ £15pm, the guy on the phone told me that the new monthly payment would be £42pm, we also had to have the "Signature" package added in order to get the Sports which is just an absolute con like most of the Sky stuff.. However my issue is that after looking at our billing it now looks like our monthly is goiung to be £52pm, I'm about to call them and ask them to pull the call recording as the guy told me 100% that it was going to be £42.. What do you think?

Thank you..

If it's an absolute con, why sign up to it? As regards the monthly cost, yes, give them a call to query it.

That is correct - Sky won't add premium channels to legacy base packages.

Absolutely.  Just to be clear, all future bills are showing as £52?

Re: Monthly Cost not what I was told

@MAD4J I agree Sky is a con not being able to just have sports, having to pay for HD and UHD and all the other little extras they add on to make more money, although as @Mark39 bluntly says you dont have to sign up if you dont like the prices. There are alernatives, if you want to stay with the Sky model you can use NOW TV (owned by Sky) for sports only which is currently £26 a month but being sky you have to pay for HD or UHD. If you want to move away from Sky , Virgin etc, buy an apple TV and stream from other paid legal  services at a fraction of the cost. If you go to AV forums there is a dedcated section on Apple TV and thier uses, there is also a good section on NOW TV and insights into how to lower the standard price with them.

It's always been the case you need a base TV subscription to add a premium channel.  (Nowadays you have to have Signature to add them)

You don't need to pay for HD or UHD subs.  Sports comes with HD included.

If you were on an old basic package then the signature one will have replaced it because as stated above you wouldn't not have been able to have sports added otherwise.

Regarding the billing do your future bills show as being £52 ?

If future bills are showing as being £52 then you will have to speak to Sky again about this and when you do give them

tje date and time you spoke to them

previously so if needs be they can listen to what was said to you.

It's a well-established business model used by a company which became successful enough to be able to afford the purchase of exclusive rights to some sports content, which the owners of those sports are very happy to sell them.  You may be confusing 'con' with 'capitalism'.
