Sky are within their rights to say you can not cancel with them but if they do agree that you get leave your contract early then they might ask you to pay the remainder of it off in full. All you can do is to try talking to Sky again about this.

No, there is no price rise if you are no longer a Sky TV customer.

Sky Broadband and Sky Talk ~ To cancel totally or if you’re moving to Virgin Media you'll have to contact Sky and give the required notice of 14 days, but if you are still in the initial 18 months deal Sky could impose cancellation charges. This link may help https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-broadband
If you are changing to another provider who also uses the Openreach infrastructure then join up with them and they should contact Sky on your behalf.
You’ll need to return any loaned router to Sky, so it’s very important you get proof of posting and keep it indefinitely. Return packaging will be sent out to you near the end of the notice period.

This link explains the process if you’re eligible for Sky Broadband Basics.

The Sky account holder needs to be claiming Universal Credit or Pension Credit (and from 07/12/22 apparently also includes Income Support, Income based Jobseekers Allowance or Income based Employment Support Allowance). These are the only qualifying benefits so Sky would require the relevant NI number so they can check. It is only available to customers who already have Sky Broadband. If you are eligible you’ll need to call Sky to join.

I'd suggest being cautious of any promise of 'free calls': BT, like Sky, offer a 'free' voice call service, but you are charged to make calls using it (receiving calls is indeed 'free'). The 'simple TV package' is Freeview (which Sky also do as Freesat) so the price quoted is really just for broadband and some hardware rental.
