Best you speak to your previous provider and you may well have to give notice (and pay for it).

You may have been charged because your last bill was in that billing cycle. Wait until you old broadband fully cancels or call the old broadband provider after your Sky Broadband is activated.
Unless you have 2 different telephone lines in your property, or one of the broadband services does not come via a telephone line therefore if is impossible to have 2 different broadband providers in the same address.
