Apparently discounts are harder to come by now so you are doing the right thing by leaving but once you have left get ready for come back to Sky offers.

Sure, if the deal they've offered isn't what you hoped then vote with your feet.

Really come back to sky offers.... honestly the mind boggles... why not offer best price in the first place.....

@gdynedm Unless you are into sport, sky no longer offers vauve for money. Next year Max are rumoured to launch in the UK who currently supply a lot of content to Sky which they will lose. I am not recontracting next month and have found ample ways to get the content I currently view at a fraction of what Sky wants. I do have 2 Apple TV's which does make this much easier.

Because it appears the strategy is to see if you renew (or even continue at undiscounted prices) until you actually cancel.

Again, if any offers are not to your liking then let the account cancel.

Personally, I always got the best offers by actually cancelling, YMMV.

@gdynedm

Most, if not all providers do this now. From recent posts on here it does seem that decent deals are increasingly hard to find. What we are referring to is if you choose to leave the same will happen at the end of your discounted deal with whoever you go with. Once you've been away for 18 months you'll be able to rejoin Sky and benefit from new customer discounts.

Being prepared and ready to switch providers seems the only way these days. Using a comparision site gives a good idea of market rates.

Recent posts suggest that in many cases Sky are quite happy to let you go to a competitor, rather than match their new customer rates.

@gdynedm If you really want your sports and dont want to try to negotiate a better deal with Sky, I would swap to virgin and be prepared to move back to Sky after 2 years if Virgin increases the price. The only way these companies will learn if  you play them at thier own game.
