I am on universal credit and was on a lower price for this but it has suddenly increased by double and cannot afford this. I have put a complaint in as received no correspondence telling me this was happening. I will be cancelling it if it is not reduced. Complete joke.
I will take it further if necessary as Im sure its illegal not to give notice of bill increases. The money taken was needed for something else, im fuming

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou haven't said which service this is for. Being on UC only applies to Broadband social tariff. There is no TV equivalent.
This link explains the process if you’re eligible for Sky Broadband Basics.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-social-tariff
The Sky account holder needs to be claiming Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, Income based Jobseekers Allowance or Income based Employment Support Allowance. These are the only qualifying benefits and in order for Sky to carry out checks with DWP they will need your NI number. The social tariff is for Sky Broadband Superfast 35 with an average download speed of 36Mb/s and the Sky Talk Pay As You Go tariff (ie: all calls are chargeable). It does not offer a discounted Sky Talk plan.
Broadband Basics is only available to customers who already have Sky Broadband and to add the Sky Mobile offer, you’ll need to be taking Sky Broadband Basics, and:
a) Already have Sky Mobile and a 3GB data plan.
b) Or you can add a new 3GB data plan with Sky Mobile.
If you are eligible you’ll need to call Sky to join. There is no equivalent offer for TV. The social tariff now lasts for 24 months and then reverts to the full cost but if you’re still eligible you will then need to re-apply.
If it's not the social tariff the normal discounts may have recently expired or be ending soon. Sky will have told you the date the discount was ending when you took it out. Perhaps compare a previous bill to your latest bill and see where the amounts differ
www.sky.com/bill.
If your discounts have ended the best deals are normally acquired by calling Sky to try to negotiate a new deal or potentially amend your package which will now require a 24 month minimum term contract. Remember Sky are not obliged to offer you another discount, and recent posts on here indicate that significant discounts are much harder to come by. If you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer may no longer be available when you call back.
You can either call Sky or use the following link

Yes it is for broadband

As above, if you were on the social tariff it only lasts 24 months and then you need to reapply if still eligible.
Check all your emails, spam too, as broadband end dates should be advised by the ISP, but even so you should have been aware of what you signed up for and made a note of the expiry date of your deal.
