My worry is why has my data about my length of service and package, my name and contact details out there for scammers number ended 9803 must be a sky data breach.

Very unlikely to be a data breach. Sky would be required to advise customers.

Sky giving 40% off bill?
Hello,
I just received a phone call from a Man saying he was from Sky, he was offering a 40% discount off my bill which would last until my contract ends. I am a very wary person due to being scammed ever so badly in the pandemic. I suddenly looked at the number ( I just wasn't paying attention initially) it is [Removed] now THAT isn't a Sky number!
This person has rang me 4 times! I have blocked him. I just thought people should be aware. Problem is, is that I I gave him my first line of Address and surname ...gosh I feel like an right idiot! I really wasn't paying attention.
I have noticed whilst coming on to this forum that this scam dates back to around Winter last year 2024. I'd like to know how they got my number?
Sky what are you doing about this?

Hi @BeckieBoo The numbers are dialled at random or you are on a suckers list. Given the percentage of Sky users, they hit on a number of Sky users. What exactly do you think Sky should do about this. Solving that problem would make you a trillionaire.

Most likely from random block dialling. And once they think they've fished a live one they may continue as you've found out...

They can't really stop incoming calls and people saying they are Sky
...but number spoofing is something OfCom is looking at.

Just had that exact thing happen, caller said they could decrease my bill I said yes, asked for details name address and last 4 digits of payment card and said I was looking but the one I was giving was wrong and then she said I could give my bill payments and date they come out so said okay I'll look and hung up. Not sure what happened there or if that was a scam?

Yeah that's the scam,,we pay by direct debit using account number and sort code so why would they ask for last 4 digits on card 🤔 the next question would be 'can I just check the rest of the numbers etc etc'

They try to obtain sufficient details so that they can order an expensive mobile phone under your details which subsequently gets sent to your address. The scammers then recontact you saying they've made a mistake and to send it to a (non Sky) address. They then have the device and you have the bill.
With any unexpected calls from Sky if the caller asks for your telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which a genuine Sky agent should) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then you know it'll be a scam call.

I had a call today from this number and said he could help to lower my bill as it is getting higher. I told him how can you do this when my contract is not over yet, and when asked if he knew when my contract expired he got flabbergasted and said he didnt know. I said I would leave it and he hung up.

Honestly the kind of thing that could make me cancel my Sky subscription.

I think it is when you are out of contract: they offer a small discount to renew the contract period. Inevitable that this becomes redundant when 'annual rises' kick in.
