With any unexpected calls from 'Sky' if the caller asks for your telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which a genuine Sky agent should) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then there's a very good chance it'll be a scam call.

I had exactly the same. That same number which said it was from Sky Outbound or I wouldn't have answered. Said my bills were going up but she could reduce the increase. She knew all my details. I checked my app and rang Sky who told me my bills were NOT going up! Sky also confirmed that on my account was a note that Sky HAD rung me. This makes no sense. Could my account have been hacked?

Very dodgy. I had the same. How did they know all my details if it wasn't from Sky? I have complained to Sky. Changed my password.

Exactly this happened to me. I still don't believe it was from Sky Outbound. Said my bills were going up which they aren't! I think someone must have hacked my Sky account. The phone call is on my Sky account as I rang Sky myself to check. It must be a scam!

I think you miss a point here...with their resources Sky COULD do more about tackling the scammers (and protecting our source data in the first place)...that they choose not to do so is a reflection on how they actually feel about their customer base.
Too many of the greedy large media and social media companies choose the easy option rather than helping tackle the problems

I just received a call from this number
Just because the caller id matches a genuine Sky telephone number proves literally nothing as it's extremely easy to spoof
Having watched Scammer Payback on YouTube I don't engage with cold callers particularly when India is the scam call centre capital of the world! They should have to prove they are Sky in the same way we have to prove we are the account holder

They do say if you're uncertain to call Sky. As I've probably posted within this thread already, with any unexpected calls from Sky if the caller asks for your telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which a genuine Sky agent should) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. I have also just had a call today, offered to reduce my bills on my mobile plans then when I declined the offer of a Samsung tablet hung up on me. Very unprofessional and rude!

That probably wasn't a call from Sky as such calls are usually from scammers who want to gain access to your Sky account login details so they can order phones and tablets whist you end up paying for them.

I agree with @caesarome
They try to obtain sufficient details so that they can order an expensive mobile phone under your details which subsequently gets sent to your address. The scammers then recontact you saying they've made a mistake and to send it to a (non Sky) address. They then have the device and you have the bill.

I questioned him and he verified my details and products back to me and it was the sky number that called me.
I've since called Sky back as when I went into my account to check if he'd made any changes I noticed I was out of contract for my broadband so called Sky. They could see that someone had called me and the person I spoke to on calling them back actually offered me a better deal anyway!

I used to be in the IT industry many years ago and so I am always supicious of unsolicted calls especially from a mobile number. BUT I also watch a programme Scam Interceptors on BBC where I have re-inforced my wariness, great programme.
Not saying that I will never be caught but I always think twice now.

Where I work it's drilled into us to verify who is calling if we don't recognise the number etc so immediately asked him how do I know he was calling from Sky.
I have also seen those programmes and the scammers are very good when they get someone who isn't clued up!

Data breach
Called today wanting to offer me free fiber upgrade, he knew my sky tv package and how long I've been with sky.... wanting my sky password definitely not given to him so have you had a data breach.... I have the phone number but won't allow me to add to this post... called your team got a guy who just wanted to sell me fiber not concerned about the data breach.
