Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIn Skys case it's the telephone password they're requesting in order to verify you are the account holder. That needs to be provided in full. My advice would be to provide an incorrect password and if the response appears to indicate that it is correct you know it's a scam.

I do think this is a little problematic - I receive an unsolicited call from a number that I don't recognise and the first question is "please tell me your Sky password?".
When I google the number, up pops a number of messages about how this may or may not be a scam.
That really doesn't seem like state of the art security!

I had a "courtesy" call today from this number. When I asked them to verify my password, as they would if I called them, and he hung up...

Hi, best thing to do is hang up, don't forget foreign call centers (No disrespect) get hacked and calls are highjacked and piggy backed by scammers (the calls come through as genuine sky contact phone numbers) they could ask for remote access to your account (via laptops phones etc) DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN becausebankingdetailsprivateinformation couldbe accessed, hang up call sky and check to see if notes have been left on your account 🤔 oh don't be afraid to call them out as scammers during the call and see what response you get, some will hang up straight away more experience scammers will try and stick it out, good luck

I received a call from this number yesterday and they acutally askedm me for my password in full or my mother maiden name. When I went away to check the number was genuine they hung up. I suspect this number is being spoofed.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Dobby2 you're right to be wary. Sky do actually ask for your telephone password in full, when they're seeking to identify you. That's a password specifically set up to identify you when you call or message them. A genuine Sky representative wouldn't asking for any other log in password.

Highly unlikely. Hopefully you didn't give away any personal information.

I just finished a call from this number, didn't know my password off pat, so took mother's maiden name. Asked me what I like watching on TV I said depends on my mood. Asked me do you like sports. I say no, she hangs up. No, 'thanks for your time' or anything. Just gone. So disrespectful. Worst customer service ever. Blocked
