I have been overcharged for years

I had Sky Talk for a short while and went back to BT, then removed my landline completely 3 years ago.

Ihad Sky broadband but moved to Virgin 3 years ago.

I know my bill was high and intended to call up for a new deal, never did.

My email addres is historic so I expect Sky may have been emailing that account, again, my fault.

I have just been given a breakdown of my bill, £108 for TV, £44.75 for broadband, £18.99 for Sky Talk.

I have called to complain, my only options are to cancel after a notice period.

Is there any way I can speak or email someone with some authority to discuss this with, I am sure the charges must be a mistake, quite a sum over 3 years.

Any assistance much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Tony

@Camperman1

This link explains how to complain:

By the sounds of it your account wasn't closed for some reason when you mixed these services elsewhere so back then did you call Sky to inform them you wanted to cancel them ?

Certainly never called. I was led to believe that this would have been done automatically.
May be my own fault but sky call me often for offers. I believed they were trying to win my business back.
im sure they monitor usage, my broadband and landline will be reading zero for well over 3 years

Unfortunately, not.  Only recently did 'OneTouch Switch' include Virgin Media.  If you never cancelled, then you still have broadband with Sky.

Yup, but won't be a valid argument if you did not cancel your account.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

@Camperman13 years ago the one touch switch system wasn't used by Virgin media, that would explain why you are still being charged for broadband from Sky, if you didn't call Sky to cancel any service then that explains the other charges as well.

I don't see Sky being at fault , you could put a complaint in to Virgin media if their representative stated the cancellation of your Sky services would be automatic when you switched, however after such a long time that would be almost impossible to prove.

This is unfortunately one of those times where you may just have to put it down to an expensive mistake and cancel properly if you are no longer using Sky's services.

For information, the one-touch-switch system was officially expanded to cover Virgin and the other altnet ISPs in September 2024 (although trials were running for some months before then)
