I had a call this morning from someone claiming to be from Sky...

As my Brother pays for my account, they don't even have my personal mobile number according to when I texted my Brother to tell him... I just thought I'd warn people that if you get any calls claiming to be from Sky, do NOT give them any personal info as it probably ain't genuine.

I've asked him to call the actual Sky to see if there's anything they want that's account related anyway.

Was there number a Sky number ? If somone calls claiming to be from Sky and you dont beleive theyre genuine then please hang up and call Sky back to verify if tehy called you or not. Unforunately lots of scams exist where people calim to be from Amazon, O2, Virgin, Sky e.t.c  and ask for one time verification codes, as they ahve your eprosnal details already they can be quite convincing. Please never give Sky a verification code over the phone unless you are certain that you are actually talking to Sky.  Whenever im unsure if im talking to a genuine representative from a company I always say "thank you I will call you back to verify this", if they are genuienly from that company then they will have no problem with this.

It came up as Sky on my phone, as soon as I told them my Brother is in charge of my account, they hurriedly hung up.

if it came up as Sky then it probably was genuine, it could have been the team that calls people to get new customers as I previously have had calls from them.

@Tommy2 I've been a Sky customer for nearly 20 years mate, because I can't get Virgin (and wouldn't if I could due to the African call centres) and Talk Talk and Plusnet have the same problem.

It's really easy for scammers to spoof numbers, so even if it comes up as Sky there's no guarantee that it's really Sky calling.

@xenon81  Yes, thats a good point actually they can sometimes scam numbers hwoevr, thats more unusual and I havent heard of them scamming the Sky number or 02, I know that O2 have things in place to prove when youre genuinely being called.

@Tommy2  I've been with O2 on and off since 2009, their customer service is awful and that's being kind.
